Please see my official statement on the security issue today at The Well.

Thanks to our leaders, volunteers and MPD for acting quickly and to God for protecting us.

I was so sad seeing fathers arrive and having to send them home out of an abundance of caution, but I was grateful that no one was harmed.

All is well 💙

Save the date! Dr. Kia Conerway is praying on Friday morning on our YouTube Channel!

I remember the day I started bleeding in the middle of a conversation about a deep betrayal from someone I loved & going to the bathroom to realize my body might be betraying me, too. I should have been a week or two shy of 3 months, but every week…the baby kept being smaller than the predicted size & the day we went to check on the heart beat again, my doctor went to check me and said “I’m so sorry, but it’s coming out…” & she pulled the life right out of me in front of the ultrasound machine. It was a bloody mess. I just held Henry’s hand and cried. I walked through the lobby with shades on as tears streamed down my face.

I remember the day that we went to check the heart beat for the second baby in 9 months. She sent me to the hospital so that we could have a stronger machine. She really wanted this to work & kept checking on me. When they did the ultrasound, they moved the screen away from me and started whispering. They called in another person and then, another as they all looked concerned and whispered. One woman looked tearfully in my eyes, faked a smile & told me to follow up with my OBGYN. She told me that she was praying everything would be well, but we both knew she just couldn’t tell me. I looked up as tears rolled down into my ears and saw Timon & Pumba in the ceiling. I thought “how odd to have cartoons painted in the ceiling in a room where many women find out the babies in their wombs will never see cartoons.” The next day, 48 hours before ’s Disney trip, they intubated me, put me under anesthesia and pulled a baby from my body. I got on a plane 2 days later & held back tears for 3 days at Disney. Henry & I were crushed, but we couldn’t tell Harper.

I remember the second day in the hospital after was born & realizing that my left leg was still numb. I couldn’t feel anything from my pinky toe all the way to my butt. I was on a walker & waiting every hour for Physical Therapy to show up & relying on my husband to change my mesh panties every hour…as I wobbled to stand up straight, balancing on one leg over a hospital toilet crying because I didn’t know if I would be able to walk again.

I remember the third day in the hospital after was born & being wheeled down for an ultrasound of my leg to rule out a blood clot & getting left in the hallway with no phone, one leg to stand on and no one nearby for over 20 minutes. Eventually, two women would walk by in the distance far enough where I couldn’t see their faces, but close enough so that I could call for them. They came towards me and I asked them if they could find out when my ultrasound was starting because the aid left me locked to the wall and I couldn’t walk. Looking up to respond, one of the women locked eyes with me. It was her. The woman from the ultrasound room with Timon & Pumba…I told her there was a healthy baby upstairs. We cried together in that empty hallway. I had been waiting on help for 20 minutes because she needed to know all was well. She hugged me and said she was so glad I was there waiting because she never gets the good stories & always gives the bad news.

When they took me into the ultrasound room, I looked up and saw Timon & Pumba. I asked the young lady doing this ultrasound if all the rooms were the same. She said each room was different. I asked her was she sure. She said yes.

It was happening. I was in the same room & on the same bed where I found out the last baby wouldn’t make it and I had just hugged the lady who did the ultrasound. I testified to the new ultrasound tech as she wheeled me out. In the hallway, the woman who performed the ultrasound on my last miscarriage was still there. I told her that I was in the same room from before…and, she started crying again. The new ultrasound tech was in awe.

She said, “you don’t know this but not only did I perform the ultrasound when we discovered your last baby wouldn’t make it…but, I was there during your D&C when we took the baby. I had to make sure we got everything out. You were under anesthesia, but I was praying for you then, too.”

God had brought me full circle. And, even though I couldn’t stand on my own in that hallway…I was standing on prayers that kept me & would continue to keep me. That’s the God we serve! He didn’t leave me alone while I waited.

I’ve been praying fervently for women waiting in hallways, lying on operating tables, crying in ultrasound rooms, looking at negative tests, getting scary test results, poking themselves for IVF, bleeding out in public, waking up in a sea of blood or giving birth to a baby they can’t take home and I need to gather you for prayer. It’s a need.

This Friday, we are petitioning the throne. Let me be your ultrasound tech. Let me see what you can’t see and pray until you see what God has willed. This will happen on YouTube LIVE on The Well’s channel.

Babies are coming.

Be ready.

Join us for worship & hang out after as we enjoy Pickeatz, Elise Dessert Company and…you know it’s not an event at The Well without Suga Mama SnoBalls - as our gift to you 🙏🏽 We will enjoy our food inside in case it rains!

I think it’s really special that a church founded by a woman is coincidentally hosting an all women owned line up of food businesses this Sunday! Every dollar we spend is intentional and this month, we are also aiding a woman founded non-profit, AnnieCannons for our mission! And, don’t worry fellas - June 21st is for YOU!

It’s almost time! What do the kids say 6/7!!!!!!

It’s almost time! What do the kids say 6/7!!!!!!

At 24, I was the first woman to preach at my home church…it was founded by enslaved people. Then, I would go on to be the youngest person to pray on the House Floor, the youngest to lead our National Day of Prayer (it used to just be one speaker) & the first person to have an entirely digital worship experience that touched 4 million timelines.

The entire time this stuff was happening people were calling me pastor & I would flatly rebuke them - only to go on to become the first millennial woman in our region to start a church…by myself, with my own personal funds. I didn’t have a husband who was preaching & God led me to do it anyways. A solo lead of a church in the south…as a woman…a young woman…bold enough to start a church 🤣

And, while pastoring my own church, I would go on to become the first woman pastor on staff at Brown Baptist…

I’m always doing something nobody has ever done, before I realize nobody had ever done it…

So, when I was talking to Kirstin L. Cheers last week, she shook me.

My volunteers literally build a church every single week and we have done that for 8 years. So, when my pregnancy got complicated…I decided to go completely virtual. The team needed a break. I needed to heal. We all needed to recalibrate. I needed to make major changes to the team & reset expectations. It’s been 6 months.

And, Kirstin said, “you need to sit with how brave that is. Most people would be too afraid to do something so courageous and so thoughtful for the team.”

In that moment, I started laughing because Kia what have you done 🤣😩 what if nobody comes back 🫣

I snapped out of it because she was RIGHT & because when I started this church, I didn’t think I could get more than 15 people to join a church founded by a woman in a rocky first marriage and no building.

Now, I’m a woman in a healthy marriage with enough capital to buy buildings and we still haven’t found the right one - but, THAT is major.

The Well has done MAJOR things. We’ve bought cars for people. We’ve put people in homes. We’ve paid off medical debt. We’ve given seed money to start so many businesses for members. We have given scholarships & more. We have purchased thousands of dollars in groceries and gas over the years…for strangers who became members.

We have seen cancer dry up, neurological issues disappear, addictions cease, marriages mended, death predictions from doctors proved wrong, wombs open & so many reversals of diagnoses…

And, on June 7th at 10:30am, we’ll see what happens when a HYBRID church with 40% online membership returns to offering an in-person worship option.

If you haven’t been to church in a while, have a church but, want to encourage me as I return to in-person worship experiences because I’ve encouraged you over the years or need prayer, some oil or a new church to visit ((or you wanna see HD & Lilly 👀🤣)…I invite you to join us.

We are going to have food trucks & probably a bounce house for the kids - since never got her Easter egg hunt!

The series we are starting on June 7th is SUMMER LOVE! And, we are discussing relationships ❤️🙏🏽

Let’s go do something folks ain’t really seen before again 🙌🏽

Did you catch the prayer call? Read Dr. Kia Conerway’s post and catch the play back ❤️🙏🏽

HoldFAST started this morning and I can’t tell you how many prayers I’ve prayed since 2012. This morning was different though because last night asked me to wake her up, so that she could join me. She didn’t realize that she was helping me live out the text.

This morning’s scripture was Proverbs 13:22. Most people shoot down to “the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just.” But, we focused on “a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children.”

The word for inheritance in that passage is “nachalah” - a Hebrew word (I accidentally said Greek on the call). The word means more than bequeathing money. It speaks to spiritual inheritance & family values. It speaks to territory.

This opens up the conversation for examining how we frame our prayers. Our lens for prayer has to widen. We have to pray prayers that bless us, but benefit the next generation. We can leave behind money, but money without a spiritual inheritance is akin to poverty. What spiritual authority have the people around you assumed because they can model you? What dominion do they get to take because you made space for them to walk into that realm?

Are you praying to be a better steward because someone is watching?

Are you fasting because it sets an example?

When you worship, are you aware that you’re setting a standard for those who witness you?

What spiritual inheritance are you leaving behind?

How will people you’ve never met benefit from how you walk as a believer TODAY?

In short, if you are praying prayers that just cover things that will benefit you or your household or even people that you know - your lens is too narrow.

As you pray, pray like you know God is bigger than what you see & can open doors for everything you and those who will follow you can and shall be.

If you need money, start with the money. God is able…but, keep praying until it sounds like inheritance is swelling.

Pray outside of this moment.

Pray yourself into the next.

And, if you can’t see too far into the distance…just think about how your prayers will impact the little people who look up to you…the people on your job…the people in your city…the world that HD & Lilly will have when we have lived long and gone on to glory.

How are you laying the ground work for the people you’ll never meet? Start by thinking about the ones you already have.

I’m praying for you…and, all the ones who’ll come behind you.

Tomorrow is Pentecost & we are about to get free!

What if I told you that God can change it all over night?

Tomorrow, we continued our MULTIFACETED series and we unpack how sin, shame & past decisions are no barrier to God’s desire to use us. Sometimes, it makes us the perfect candidate!

You may have done THAT before but, now God is calling you to do THIS.

See you online ONLY tomorrow at 10:30am - we are back in the building on June 7 ❤️
