Lee Harold Knauss, 96, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Central Point, Oregon. He was born on September 7, 1929, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Helen Olive Kannoyer and Robert Cecil Knauss. He was # 6 in the line up of 14 children.

At the age of 16, Lee left Iowa and hitchhiked to Southern California, where he would soon meet the love of his life, Clara Agnes Rose. The two were married on February 3, 1950, and shared 64 years of marriage before Clara preceded him in death in 2014.

In the mid-1960s, Lee and Clara made their home in Central Point, OR. In the house that they built together, they remained there, for the rest of their lives.

Lee and Clara built a strong and loving family, raising four children: Lance Knauss(Donna), Jill Henney(Alfred), Julie Knauss and Joan Walker(Scott). He was deeply devoted to his family and took joy in the life and love that surrounded him through each generation.

In the early 70’s, Lee worked at

Crater High School, and then, at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. He then owned and operated Nu-Way Cleaners and Furriers for approximately 17 years. Prior to moving to Oregon, Lee owned two other dry-cleaning businesses in California.

Along with family, church and work, Lee also was the lead singer of the Gospel Hymns Quartet. They traveled regionally for about 13 years and it brought much joy to his life.

Wherever he went, he made friends and left a lasting impression. He was well loved for his kindness, his warm spirit, and his habit of singing and praying for just about everyone he met.

Lee will be remembered as a man, with enduring faith; who made people feel seen, cared for, and lifted up. His life was a blessing to many, across every chapter of his journey.

Janice Patricia Richards

Our wonderful mom, wife, sister, nana, aunt and friend, Janice Richards, died March 4, 2026, at home in Medford, surrounded by people who loved her.

She lived most of her life in Southern Oregon, working in home health care, raising two sons and making sure she was there to take care of everyone who needed her.

Jan was born Aug. 26, 1942, to Milton and Mary Budde, in Minneapolis, Minn., and had two brothers, Duke and Scott. In 1955, the family moved to Sunnyvale, Calif., where she met Johnnie Richards at a high school dance. He decided right there she was “the one,” and they got married on June 24, 1961.

They moved to San Jose and adopted two boys, Dennis Patrick in 1965 and Darrin Paul in 1968. Five years later, Jan insisted they follow the rest of the Richards family to Oregon, where the boys could grow up in a safer community. They lived briefly in Medford, before moving to a new home in the Applegate Valley. And that was fine until the boys were in high school, and Johnnie and Jan were making too many trips to school and sports practices, so they moved back to Medford.

Once the boys were raised, Jan got a degree in home health nursing at Rogue Community College and worked with families dealing with cancer. She also worked at the Jacksonville Drug Store and became the person who was always in the waiting room for any family member in the hospital.

She was also the aunt who you relied on to host wedding and baby showers, and to show up at family picnics with a huge bowl of her famous potato salad. She loved to paint and spend time with little kids. The family knew she was always there “for anyone and everyone.”

In turn, during her long illness, her family was there for her. She will be missed by her husband Johnnie; sons Dennis (Tracy) in Medford and Darrin (Michelle) in Portland; granddaughters Claire in Portland and Madison in Medford; great-grand-daughter Harper; brother Duke (Rosemary) in Sunnyvale; brother and sisters–in-law, Betty Winningham and Tommy (Patti) Richards, both of Central Point, and Marie Martin of Talent, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Ralph was later offered a teaching position at RCC, and in the late 90's became the Department Chair of the Construction Technology department until he retired in 2017.

James Keith Owen

James "Jim" Owen passed away on December 1 7 th in Central Point OR at the age of 94.

Jim was born in Grants Pass and grew up near Holland, OR. He graduated from Kerby High School.

Jim attended Southern Oregon University where he played football and graduated with a degree in education. It was during his freshman year that he met his future wife, Barbara Jean Pritchard. The two were married in 1951. The young couple moved to Sutherlin for Jim's first teaching job but were not there long. He was drafted into the army in 1956 and was deployed to Germany. Barbara joined him a few months later. While in the service, Jim taught enlisted men to prepare for obtaining their GED's and he and Barbara traveled all over Europe. This began their lifelong joy of travel.

Jim taught for over 20 years, most of those years at Scenic Junior High School in the math department. After retiring from education, he worked as a salesman for Western Beverage and his last position as a warehouse foreman.

In addition to their overseas travel with family and friends, Jim and Barbara loved to camp and explore other states.

Jim was a true renaissance man. He loved music, plays, reading, and at one time, was a pretty good cartoonist. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. His gardening skills were second to none. The grandkids loved picking out pumpkins every fall and eating all the berry varieties he grew.

Jim was a devoted husband for over 60 years before he lost his wife to Alzheimer's. He was an amazing father to his three children, and he loved watching his family grow.

Jim is proceeded in death by his wife, Barbara, his brother, Jack Owen and a multitude of life-long friends. He is survived by his three children, Lori Dean (Larry), Doug Owen (Tara) and Julie Baayoun. He will be missed by his grandchildren Anna Hobbs (Heath), Alex Parke (Cassi), Shelby McHugh (Dylan), Allison Hilligoss (Marty) and Zak Baayoun. He was proud to be a great grandfather to ten.

Few people live their life exactly how they wanted. Jim was one of those people. Always true to himself, happy with what he had, honest, often to a fault (if you know, you know).

A celebration of life will be held March14th at 10am at Memory Gardens 1395 Arnold Lane with a reception following.

Stefani Jo Mosby

Stefani died peacefully with her husband by her side on February 4, 2025, in Medford, Oregon. Stefani was born on August 18, 1959, in Sunnyvale, California, and was raised in Orange, California. For the past several years, Stefani was a resource teacher at New Horizon Christian School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She had a gift for reaching out to students of all ages to help them reach their potential and find their passion. While working at a juvenile detention center in Idaho, Stefani developed a literacy program that continues to this day. Stefani had a passion for helping children and teens succeed in school. She could take any lesson plan and adapt it to fit any grade level. Stefani was brilliant that way.

Stefani had many interests, including reading, calligraphy, drawing, and painting, but really excelled at photography. She graduated from Orange High School, Orange, California, and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Boise State University. Once she made friends, she kept them for life, including several that she had known since kindergarten.

Stefani is survived by her husband David Mosby, three sons Victor and his wife Erica Julius, Jerome Julius and his partner Erica Skepnek, and Alex Julius. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Max, Pepper, Emery, and Jamison, who brought her endless joy. Stefani was loved by two older brothers and their wives, Steve and Susie Waterman, and by Wyatt and Carla Waterman, along with a niece, Amy, and nephews, Jonnie, Joel, Jerry, Brooks and James. Stefani was also blessed with in-laws, Gary and Becki Chriss.

Stefani never wavered from her faith, kept her eyes on Jesus, and had peace in her heart.

This verse describes her well:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord will award to me on that day.”

2 Timothy 4:7-8
