His life mattered. The girls whose lives he saved mattered. Returning to tough-on-crime matters.

🚨In December 2015, 15-year-old Zaevion Dobson, a Fulton High School football player from Knoxville, Tennessee, made the ultimate sacrifice.

During a drive-by shooting, instead of running for safety, he threw his body over the girls beside him to shield them from the bullets. The girls survived. Zaevion did not.

His selfless act of courage turned a young teenager into a national symbol of heroism. In 2016, he was posthumously awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs — one of the youngest recipients ever. His school later retired his No. 24 jersey.

Zaevion was only 15, but his bravery will never be forgotten.
