Guest speaker Tim Hopkins reminded us that it's only natural to want to be noticed, recognized, or honored for what we do. But Jesus calls us to a different way of living. Through His words, "the first will be last, and the last will be first," Tim encouraged us to shift our focus from seeking recognition to serving others with humility. As Tim shared, "We do our best, but we're not so concerned about being first." Instead, we're called to put others first and live in a way that points people to Christ.

Guest speaker Dan Dunn encouraged the congregation to reflect on both America's heritage and our personal faith, reminding us that while history is filled with imperfect people, every person has the opportunity to choose Christ. Through stories from the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II, he illustrated the transforming power of forgiveness, faith, and surrender to God.

Dan encouraged us to remember that following Christ is both a surrender and a commitment. As he shared, "I surrendered... but I also enlisted. I enlisted in God's army." May we continue to choose Christ each day and faithfully serve wherever He leads.

Today we celebrate the birth of our nation with grateful hearts.

As fireworks light the sky and families gather together, may we remember that every good gift comes from God. Let us give thanks for the blessings of freedom, pray for our nation and its leaders, honor those who have served, and seek to be people who reflect Christ's love in our community every day.
