By God's Grace, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are dedicated to learning, loving and living Christ! Our Savior is a vibrant faith community trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord, learning and growing in Jesus, loving others as God has loved us, and sharing the grace of God. Our Faith Community’s Purpose
The Purpose of our Congregation’s Ministry is to be faithful to the Great Commission of Jesu
s, to Make Disciples. Our Call as People of God
We respond to the call of Jesus to follow Him and become “fishers of men and women”. We are called, equipped and gifted by God to be difference makers in His world to His glory! We are ROYAL priests (1 Peter 2:9) and we carry that biblical identity wherever we go in life…we are called to actualize the Kingdom of God in our sphere of influence and life. We unapologetically and boldly live out our identity as those who are alive in Christ! Our Mission (What we are doing to fulfill our purpose)
"Love God, Love Others, Live like Jesus"
We are committed to growing in Christ as Disciples. That means, we are committed to:
1. Worship – we practice a lifestyle of intentional communal experiences of worship as well as cultivate a culture that glorifies God in all we do and are. We do that through:
* Regular worship experiences utilizing a wide-variety of traditions and formats
* An intentional practice of involvement of every member of our faith community in the practice of worship.
* Training and encouraging in lifestyle worship (Romans 12:1-2) for every member of our congregation.
2. Life Formation/Discipleship – we practice a “learning” lifestyle that seeks not only growth in biblical knowledge but also the application of the biblical story into our lives (so that our lives enter the story of God). We do that through:
* Multiple learning/growing opportunities with a specific focus on life application and transformation.
* Learning opportunities that explore our identity in Christ – our calling and giftedness.
* Learning opportunities that intentionally teach us to be disciple-makers and to join the mission of God.
* Learning opportunities that teach us to be good stewards of the gifts of God.
3. Relational lifestyle that builds up the Body of Christ in love. We do that through:
* Intentional activities that enable us to build relationships that reflect the love of Jesus.
* Caring in love for our community in their times of joy, celebration, struggle, trial, or need. We are committed to discipling others and bringing others to Jesus Christ. That means, we are committed to:
A. Discipling others by joining the Mission of God. We do that through:
* A desire and discipline of sharing our lives in Christ with others. We build relationships in our lives for the purpose of sharing all of who we are in Christ.
* A passion for that which is close to the heart of God, that being, those who are suffering in the world. We will examine local, state, national and international opportunities for living our lives on a mission for the Kingdom of God. We realize that Jesus commands us to “BE the Church” in the world….because of that, we will look for opportunities to be the Church wherever God leads.
* An intentional training of our members to be the Church to the world.
* Caring in love for people in our community in their times of joy, celebration, struggle, trial, or need. Sacrificial Service to the community through our relational connections within Valley County. We do that through:
* Making the facilities of our congregation available to the community to serve the call of Jesus Christ.
* Identifying local causes that enable us to partner with our community and our areas of influence to meet specified needs in the name of Jesus Christ.
* We will continue to share our giftedness as individuals and as a church body in a manner that will build relational bridges with the community at large. Vision
We envision a ministry environment as a faith community/congregation where EVERY PERSON understands and lives out the fact that we are alive in Jesus Christ. That we are called and gifted by God to be difference makers within our ministry footprint and realm of responsibility. Our vision is to ignite a holy passion that will cause an unstoppable movement of God in our midst where people themselves involved in God’s purposes. That’s why we need to be clear:
* Every member is a Disciple
* Every member is on a Mission
* Every member is a Worshipper
* Every member is a Steward of the Gifts of God
Strategy
Specific objectives that enable our congregation to move from one manner of being and living/doing to a new sense of being and living/doing according to the inspiration of the Mission and Vision we have received from the Holy Spirit. This is where the congregation’s leaders will start to articulate specific goals and objectives based upon our Purpose, Call, Identity and Mission. The “UP, OUT and IN” of Our Savior @ McCall
The “UP” Value - Communion/Worship/Believing/Love God – represents those things that help us connect with God – we would normally define this area of our life together as a faith community that encompasses those activities and practices that deepen devotional living, a passionate love of God, and provides the “fuel” (that being, that which feeds the heart and spirit of those who follow Jesus to live with and for Him on a day to day basis) of discipleship…for example, prayer, worship, the sacraments, scripture reading, biblical teaching and encouragement, all in a miraculous, Holy Spirit enabled environment that make up our communal connection to God and help us reinforce our identity in Christ and train and equip us for faithful and reproductive/redemptive living. This is the realm of the “attractional”, in other words, people in our community and throughout our lives are interested in how we as a faith community “do” this aspect of our lives together…it is the most public of what we “do” as a congregation of disciples of Jesus. This value holds dearly what our lives would that look like if we were to love our God with all our mind, heart, strength (relationship, is it deepening), transformation (how are you changing), responsiveness (are you listening). The “Out” Value - Mission/Blessing/Go-being Sent/Make Disciples – this realm is the realm of blessing others in the name and love of Jesus. It is the “pure religion” that is defined in the words of James. We attempt to love others and serve others (and watching people’s lives transform), blessing people (the tangible touch of God – peace of God – shalom - on every part of your life). Most local churches/congregations do this INSTITUTIONALLY which has a tendency to excuse us as individual disciples from the personal where every disciple is on a mission (some mission is OK to be institutional – but the real question is, “how do we make mission personal for everyone?). When we hear the call of Jesus to “Love others” we challenge ourselves to ask what would that look like in real life (authenticity, respect, involvement, service) – living as Kingdom people in relationship with people locally and globally. This is a distinct OTHERNESS – and includes those aspects of our life together that focus on people outside of our faith community. This is also deliberate “disciple-making” process. When Jesus said to “go, and make disciples”, we ask through this value, “what would that look like?” How do we continue to discern in whom do you see God working; how do we engage them, invite them into relationship, establish them in discipleship and spiritual formation, and invite them to reproduce (to partner with the Holy Spirit in disciple-making). The “In” Value - Inclusive community/Relationship/Disciple-making – Jesus was radical in hospitality and INCLUSIVITY and he empowered a movement that was known for its love and the power of community. In fact, the words, “see how they love each other” was uttered by outsiders (the New Testament says that in Antioch people saw a community that really acted like a real community, in loving, transformed relationships). This is a “John 13 reality” where Jesus says, “love one another as I have loved you.” This is a value that includes the purposes of building God-honoring community and relationships where Christ followers have the opportunity to encourage each other and challenge each other to grow to be all that Jesus calls each of us to be. This is a deliberate “disciple-making” process. This is the distinct TOGETHERNESS value – and it includes those things that we do together that shape our lives together – where we love other people, “do life” with other people, team with others to get involved in Body Life (see Romans 12, 1 Corinithians 12 and Ephesians 4).
