Latest Update from Bethany(Becky’s daughter)
UPDATE: My grandma was extubated today! (The breathing tube was pulled out.) So she is able to communicate and mom said was taking sips of water. They still don’t have a specific plan regarding what to do surgery on next…there is so much that needs repaired still. My Aunt Bev was able to visit Barbara Clappe ICU today and it was definitely what both of them needed 🥹. Aunt Bev is doing quite well physically and is expected to be discharged to a rehab facility tomorrow. Today was a day of rest and healing. Still a very long road to recovery ahead…
UPDATE: my Aunt Bev is doing well. They will not need to surgically repair the C-2 fracture, just wear a c-collar for quite some time. Her ankle fracture was fully repaired yesterday. She is well on the road to recovery and will need to be eventually be discharged to a rehab facility.
My Grandma Barbara Clapp is doing well today according to my sister. She is responding and even attempting (and succeeding) to talk around the vent. She will need at least 3 more surgeries. They are spacing them out to allow for healing between surgeries. She is still in the ICU. Thank you so much for your prayers. They are felt by all.
UPDATE: My Grandma Barb is out of surgery and stable. Looks like they were able to get the rod in her femur and complete the external fixation of her ankle.
UPDATE: My aunt Bev is out of surgery. It took longer than expected but she’s stable. My grandma’s lactic acid went down so now she is going into surgery. They are planning to rod her femur and fix her mid-shaft compound fracture and her femur head with one rod. Then they plan on doing the external fixation of the R ankle. Prayers to guide the surgeons hands. No mistakes. Prayers her body tolerates the surgery. She will need surgery later in the week to fix her humerus.
UPDATE: My grandma has a nose fracture, mandible fracture, mid-shaft humerus fracture, scapula fracture, hip fracture, open femoral shaft fracture, tibia/fibula fracture, multiple rib fractures. All to the R side of her body. She does have a pneumothorax and a chest tube. She is in the ICU and sedated and intubated. She is stable and they are planning to take her to surgery this afternoon to clean out the open fracture and hopefully repair the femur and hip and do an external fixation of the ankle. Those are the most pressing injuries right now. They will stabilize the other injuries for now and approach them later. When sedation is lowered she is responsive to commands. I don’t know much about Aunt Bev. Aunt Bev has a fracture in her c-spine (not sure where exactly or the extent) and a compound ankle fracture that she will be going into surgery for today. Keep praying!!!
UPDATE: My grandma’s side of the car was hit the worst so the right side of her body is very much broken (jaw, arm, pelvis, femur, punctured lung). Please keep praying…
Posted by my Aunt Cathy (with my edits for my Grammies):
**Update: Both Grammies are stable. Thank you, Lord. They are going to life flight out Barbara and Beverly to Casper. Please keep praying.
Please pray for my Grammies Barbara and Beverly. They were in a bad car wreck. The word we got was that Barbara was to be life flighted and that Beverly had a broken leg but they haven't let family back to them yet. We covet your prayers.
From me:
I don’t think my grandma would be overly fond of a FB post, HOWEVER, I know there are praying people out there and we need your prayers for my Grammies. I figured this was one of the best ways to spread the word and the prayer request. If anyone knows my Grandma Barbara Clapp, they know that she is the most mightiest prayer warrior this side of heaven. She pounds on the doors of heaven with her prayers for others. Please do the same for her and my Aunt Bev. These two amazing women would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat. Please, please remember them in your prayers tonight and over the next few days.
