Let's build a home!

Today, our amazing team from Shepherd of The Hills Presbyterian Church kicked off the morning by prepping and pouring the foundation for casa # 10 for the Perez Hernandez family! From enjoying tortas and playing soccer to challenging each other to rounds of rock, paper, scissors, our morning was filled with much more than mixing and pouring concrete.

In the afternoon, we headed out to Naranjito, where we built and completed two beautiful picnic tables. We also spent time working in the garden and giving the fence a fresh coat of paint.

What a wonderful, sunny day of service, fellowship, and working together to make a difference in our community!

¡Bienvenida, Eva!

Please join us in welcoming our newest intern, Eva! Eva has previously had the opportunity to serve here at Faith Ministry three times with our Clayton Friends. She recently completed her first year studying psychology Liberty University.

Over the next two months, Eva will be supporting our short-term mission teams throughout the summer, as well as assisting with our Spiritual Growth and Nutrition Programs.

Please join us in praying for Eva during her time with us this summer. We pray that Christ will use her to share His love and compassion with everyone she encounters here in Reynosa!

This week we said goodbye to our sweet intern, Adele. In her short three weeks with us, Adele jumped right in, helping with our short-term mission teams, the nutrition program, and spending time with everyone here at the complex.

We will continue praying for her as she takes on many exciting plans this summer and prepares to begin her second year at UT Austin.

Thank you so much, Adele! We are incredibly grateful for the time you spent with us, even if it was only for a short three weeks. We will miss you and we wish you all the best in the months ahead!

Muchísimas gracias, Harrison United Methodist Church

This week has been full of blessings, stories, and connection, and it wouldn’t have been possible without y’all serving alongside us! Not only did this team bless the Pérez Ticante family with a wonderful home, but they also blessed our staff and volunteers throughout the week with smiles, laughter, and prayers.

We will continue praying for their church as they head back home, and we can’t wait to see them again next year!

God’s Plans Are the Best Plans!

Even though we thought we would be pouring a roof this morning, after waking up to raindrops, we knew the Lord had other plans in mind. Reaching beyond the point of our comfort and having to pivot is a part of life, and days here in Reynosa are no different.

This team had the amazing opportunity to go out, connect with, and pray for six families in our community this morning, while also blessing our nutrition program by coloring and making paper airplanes with our kiddos. We are incredibly grateful for our Harrison United Methodist Church team that is here with us and for their willingness and ability to be flexible with changing plans.

Our hope and prayer is that the Lord spoke to each one of them today in unique and meaningful ways!

No way it’s Wednesday already!

Our friends from Harrison United Methodist Church had the best time today as they showed up with open hearts and a willingness to build relationships. Whether it was hanging out with the kids at the clinic, praying for families as we dropped off groceries, or signing the wall at Naranjito, each person experienced genuine connection.

The excitement didn’t stop there, as the ring and columns were poured at Casa # 9 in the afternoon. It’s a project that is incredibly rewarding, from the amount of mezcla that ends up on your clothes to seeing another part of the home come together.

There is no doubt that God is in this home, in this city, and with this amazing team!

If you’re looking for a good workout, we have the perfect one it’s called, “Wall Day.”

Featuring a block line, mixing mezcla with shovels, and carefully laying blocks between sets, our Harrison United Methodist Church team put in the work today!
Our awesome “coaches”, better known as our volunteers and staff, guided the team all day long as they worked toward completing 10 rows by the end of the day.
And the reward? Tortas, refreshing jamaica juice, and the humbling reminder that showing up to serve can make a difference one home at a time here at Faith Ministry.

What a great first day!

Our group from Harrison United Methodist Church worked incredibly well together as they poured the floor for Casa #9 for the Perez family. We were especially thankful for the cloud cover that provided some much-needed shade at the worksite today.

The team wrapped up the day with a lesson on rebar, which will be used in future projects such as preparing a materials for roof day!

Today was filled with nothing but joy and smiles from volunteers, staff, and friends alike. We are reminded that “this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24

We are thrilled to welcome our team that is joining us this week, Harrison United Methodist Church from Charlotte, North Carolina! This group of individuals is excited for the week ahead and all that God has in store. We are praying that the Lord works through their hearts and to serve His people here in Reynosa, Mexico.
