The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is excited to announce the wonderful news that Elder Clark G. Gilbert has been called as a new Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a special witness of Jesus Christ and a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

The Lord calls apostles in our day just as He did anciently, and they serve Him, testify of Jesus Christ and help guide us closer to Christ.

When churches unite, communities thrive.

Earlier this month, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was honored to participate in the City of Weslaco's 2nd Quarterly Faith-Based Coalition Meeting bringing churches together across our community.

Through this coalition, we are working to serve, support, and stand in unity for the good of our neighbors and living out our faith and strengthen community preparedness.

President Jeffrey R. Holland, President of the Quorum of Apostles died this morning. He will be greatly missed by all.

With heavy hearts, we announce that President Jeffrey R. Holland, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died today at approximately 3:15 a.m. MST from complications associated with kidney disease, while surrounded by his family. He was 85.

“My total responsibility … is to bear witness of the Lord Jesus Christ,” President Holland said hours after he was called to be an Apostle in 1994. “As inadequate as I feel, it is the most pleasant and most rewarding and most thrilling assignment a man can have in this world.”

The Giving Machine, a unique “vending machine for good” that allows the public to purchase charitable items for individuals and families in need, is coming to McAllen Food Park this season. Operated in partnership with local and global nonprofit organizations, The Giving Machine invites visitors to support meaningful causes through simple, tangible acts of giving.

Unlike traditional vending machines, The Giving Machine dispenses donations rather than snacks or merchandise. With a quick tap of a card, donors can choose from a curated list of essential items—such as meals, clean water, hygiene kits, school supplies, emergency shelter resources, livestock, and more. Each item represents a direct donation delivered by participating charities to those they serve.

This initiative transforms the act of giving into something visual, personal, and joyful. People walk away knowing exactly how they’ve helped someone, whether it’s feeding a family for a week or providing life-changing medical care.

The Giving Machine has gained international attention for its creative approach to seasonal giving, having raised millions in donations since its launch. Every dollar donated goes directly to the partner organizations, with administrative and operational costs covered by program sponsors.

The Giving Machine in McAllen will be open from December 10th to January 1st at McAllen Food Park. Visitors of all ages are welcome, and no purchase is required to explore the display and learn more about the featured charities.

It is a wonderful blessing to have prophets and apostles leading Jesus Christ's Church today, just as prophets and apostles had in the New Testament! We sustain you, Elder Caussé!

Elder Gérald Caussé is the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
