Today, we pause to say thank you to Week of Compassion for awarding The Lighthouse a grant through their tornado recovery efforts.
On December 10, 2021, our shelter was destroyed by the tornado that forever changed our community. While the storm lasted only minutes, our recovery journey has continued for more than four and a half years.
Throughout that journey, we have been blessed by organizations and individuals who chose not to forget us after the headlines faded. Week of Compassion has been one of those faithful partners.
Their support is more than a grant—it is a reminder that recovery is possible when communities, churches, and compassionate organizations stand together. This funding will help move us one step closer to reopening our doors and once again providing safe shelter, hope, and healing for women and children in crisis.
We are deeply grateful for Week of Compassion's commitment to disaster recovery and for standing with The Lighthouse long after the storm passed.
Thank you for believing in this mission, for investing in recovery, and for helping us rebuild not just a building, but a place of refuge, healing, and hope for women and children who need it most.
