Remembering “Pistol” Pete Maravich — one of the most gifted and imaginative players basketball has ever seen. 🏀

Pete didn’t just play the game.

He turned it into a performance.

From his years with the Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans/Utah Jazz to his final season with the Boston Celtics, Maravich amazed fans with no-look passes, impossible shots, dazzling handles, and a creativity that was decades ahead of its time.

Career achievements:

🏀 15,948 points
🏀 3,563 assists
🏀 2,747 rebounds
⭐ 5× NBA All-Star
⭐ 1977 NBA Scoring Champion
⭐ 2× All-NBA First Team
⭐ 2× All-NBA Second Team
⭐ NBA 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams
⭐ Basketball Hall of Fame

His No. 44 was retired by the Atlanta Hawks, while his legendary No. 7 was honored by both the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans.

But statistics alone could never explain Pistol Pete.

He saw passes before anyone else knew they were possible. He handled the basketball like it was part of his body and inspired generations of guards who followed him.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Dean once said that Pete did things with the basketball that earlier legends could only dream about.

That brilliance came from complete dedication.

Pete once revealed that he even took a basketball to bed with him as a child, practicing fingertip drills while lying awake.

That was Pistol Pete Maravich.

A basketball genius.
A fearless entertainer.
A legend far ahead of his time.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
