Today, June 3, the Church celebrates the Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, young martyrs of Uganda who remained faithful to Christ in the face of persecution and death. Their courage reminds us that holiness is not reserved for another time or place, but is lived in the choices we make each day to follow Jesus with faithfulness, purity, and love. May their witness strengthen all who suffer for the Gospel and inspire us to stand firmly with Christ in every circumstance. Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, pray for us!

This Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus draws its daily devotions from the Litany of the Sacred Heart. Each day reflects on the wisdom of saints and pontiffs on the Sacred Heart and offers opportunities for prayer and action, framed by Pope Francis ’ encyclical Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us) and Pope Leo XIV’ s apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You). The novena concludes with the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the Diocese of Greensburg, Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Friday, June 12 at 11:45 PM and in our parishes for a Diocesan-wide observance. Check with your parish for times.

"Prayer means a launching out of the heart towards God; it means lifting up one's eyes, quite simply, to heaven, a cry of grateful love, from the crest of joy or the trough of despair; it's a vast, supernatural force that opens out my heart and binds me close to Jesus." - St. Therese of Lisieux
