Matthew 3:1-6 (NIV)
In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ 4 John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

WHY partner with local schools in our community?

Because teachers and staff are showing up every day, investing in and shaping the next generation—and we want them to know they’re seen, valued, and appreciated.

This week, we had the opportunity to show up at a Foothills Elementary to encourage the incredible people who pour so much into our students every single day.

We believe supporting our community means supporting the people who serve it. 💛

That’s why we show up. That’s why we partner. That’s .

Ephesians 2:1-2, 4-5
1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Three Things to think about.
Jesus did it

Matthew 3:13-17
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

We are instructed to do it

Acts 2:38
38 And Peter replied, “Each one of you must turn from sin, return to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; then you also shall receive this gift, the Holy Spirit.

Jesus encourages us to encourage others do it.

Matthew 28:18-19
18 He told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth. 19 Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Bottomline:
Baptism doesn’t change you; it is just a sign that you have been changed.

Sunday was one for the books! 🏈🙌

We had so much fun celebrating Fan Day with our church family decked out in their favorite school colors and team jerseys! 💙 We were also honored to have the Maryville College Scots football team worship with us and celebrated TWO baptisms! 🎉

We were also grateful for the opportunity to collect and donate cereal to Community Food Connection. Thank you to everyone who brought a box and helped make a difference in our community! 🥣❤️

It was such a special Sunday. What a gift it is to worship, celebrate, and serve alongside one another!

Fan Day | Fair Weather Fan. August 16, 2026

Having a half-hearted faith; wearing the label of Christianity, without truly following Jesus.

Revelation 3:15-17, 19-20
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. … 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Revelation 3:17
17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

4 Signs that you might be a Fan-ish
You crave acceptance from people more than acceptance from God.
You rationalize sin.
Faith never comes up in your conversations.
You only turn to God when you need something.

1 John 2:15
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

Revelation 3:19
19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

Do something every day that requires faith.
Do what’s right even if it costs you.
Worship when you don’t feel like it.
Forgive when someone doesn’t deserve it.
Volunteer to pray out loud
Invite someone to Church.
Give sacrificial offering above tithe/ maybe begin to tithe.
Pray for something that’s impossible.

Revelation 3:20
20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Bottomline:
Don’t be FAN-ISH but FULLY DEVOTED.

1 John 5:13
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV)
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

James 4:7
Place yourselves under God’s authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.

1 Samuel 17:11
11 On hearing the Philistine's words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified.

1 Samuel 17:23-24
23 As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. 24 When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear.

3 Things that can cause fear
Our Past
What Voice We Listen Too
The Uncertainty

2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Matthew 8:23-27
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" 26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

3 Things that can help us defeat fear
The Past
The Voice
The Certainty

Hebrews 11:1
1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
To deal with the giant of fear, we must name it and place it in the hands of Jesus. We must trust that He can take care of it.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Bottomline:
Let your faith drown out fear by trusting God through the process.
