The songs we sing on Sunday morning aren’t chosen simply because they’re familiar, popular, or sound good. We want our worship to be rich in biblical truth, directed toward God, and focused far more on who He is and what He has done than on us.

Scripture tells us to sing with gratitude to God while letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16). That means the theology of our songs matters. The words we put on the lips of the church should teach truth, remind us of the gospel, and lead our hearts to behold the greatness of our God.

That’s one reason we love singing “Behold Our God.”

“Who has held the oceans in His hands?”
Isaiah 40:12

“Who has given counsel to the Lord?”
Isaiah 40:13–14; Romans 11:34

“Kings and nations tremble at His voice.”
Psalm 2:10–12; Psalm 99:1

“Behold our God, seated on His throne.”
Isaiah 6:1–3; Revelation 4:2–11

“Come, let us adore Him.”
Psalm 95:6

These aren’t just beautiful words. They proclaim the truth of a God who is sovereign over creation, infinite in wisdom, unrivaled in majesty, and worthy of all our worship.
And what a beautiful thing it was Sunday to hear the church sing those truths together. Big voices and little voices, young and old, all joining together to make much of our great God.

That is what we want our worship to be at Watkins:

Less about us. More about Him.
Songs saturated with Scripture.
Truth on our lips.
And glory given to God alone.

“Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!” — Psalm 95:6

Verse of the week!

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1

There are some nights when those words seem especially easy to understand.

At our church campout at Delaware State Park, we gathered around the fire with bowls of chili, guitars in our hands, good conversation, and plenty of laughter. And as the evening grew darker, we looked up and marveled at a sky filled with stars.

Creation has a way of reminding us just how small we are, and just how great our God is.

Psalm 19 tells us that the heavens are constantly proclaiming something about their Creator:

“Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” Psalm 19:2

No microphone. No stage. No words. Just the handiwork of God declaring His glory for all to see.

What a wonderful evening spent together as a church family beneath the heavens He made.

Eight baptisms. Eight stories of God’s grace. All glory to Him.

Over the last two weekends, we’ve had the incredible joy of celebrating eight people taking the step of baptism, four last weekend and four more this past Sunday.

What a gift it is to witness what the Lord is doing in and through Watkins Community Church.

This past Sunday was especially sweet as our church family and friends gathered together at Delaware State Park Lake to worship, fellowship, and celebrate as brothers and sisters publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ.

Days like this remind us that the Church is so much more than a building. It is a people redeemed by Christ, gathered around Christ, and rejoicing together in the work of Christ.

We are grateful. We are humbled. And we give all the glory to God.

May we never grow tired of celebrating lives transformed by the Gospel.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too might walk in newness of life.
-Romans 6:4

**BAPTISM SUNDAY AT DELAWARE STATE PARK!**

This Sunday is going to look a little different, because we’re taking church to the beach!

Join us at **Delaware State Park** as we gather for worship, hear from God’s Word, celebrate powerful testimonies, and rejoice together as **four people publicly profess their faith in Jesus through baptism!**

There is something beautiful about the church gathering together to witness brothers and sisters say, “I belong to Christ.”
