Lord of life, you have given us six days on which to work, and modeled resting in your word on the sabbath. We give thanks for fair labor practices that offer time for rest and leisure as balance to our daily work. We pray for good and productive work in our daily professions and pursuits for the welfare of our neighbors. We pray for just and safe working conditions for all, for living wages, for honor and dignity in our employment. We pray that you work against all forces that steal human dignity or rob communities of the economic support they need from their labors to live sufficiently and well. For all those who defend the dignity of work, and all those who help us discover how to connect our faith to work, we give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers for the week of Sept. 6

Sept. 6: Dear Lord, I find great comfort in knowing that your powerful presence is watching over me. I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Sept. 7: Today is Labor Day. Thank the Lord for all the workers and recognize their contributions to society as you take a walk around a lighthouse.

Sept. 8: Dear Lord, even when I'm struggling, I can choose to seek you in the midst of my problems instead of just focusing on the difficulties.

Sept. 9: Pray for those who are scared. May they know God's perfect peace that takes away fear.

Sept. 10 Su***de prevention and awareness month. Lord Jesus, who invites those who are weary and burdened to come and rest in your heart, today we pray for all those who struggle with suicidal thoughts.

Sept. 11: Lord, help me to thank you also in the midst of adversity, trusting in your goodness and your sovereignty.

Sept. 12: Gracious God, help me to lead the life that you have assigned to me, and to be content.

Today is International Day of Charity! Today, we'd like to highlight a few local organizations that provide aid and charity:

The Rainbow House — 1530 Main Street, Marinette WI; 715-735-6656; https://therainbowhouse.us/. The Rainbow House is a shelter and group that helps raise awareness, educates, and attempts to prevent domestic abuse.

Dorothy's Haven of Hope Homeless Shelter— 603 Mann St., Marinette, WI; 715-735-3684; https://dorothyshoh.com/. Haven of Hope is a homeless shelter that helps people in the community who have fallen on hard times.

Meals with a Friend — 715-923-7716; https://mealswithafriend.org/. Meals With A Friend, Inc. is a nonprofit organization creating meaningful human connections through shared meals, companionship and friendly visits.

Dementia Friendly Community Coalition (A group of the Marinette County Elderly Services) — 516 N U.S. Hwy 141, Crivitz, 715-732-3850; https://dfcwi.com/. The Dementia Friendly Community Coalition of Marinette County is a group of healthcare professionals, community members, and advocates for senior health and wellness who support Wisconsin’s statewide efforts to improve the lives of those living in our communities who suffer from dementia-related illnesses.

These are just a few of the local nonprofits that do great work within our community. Please consider donating monetarily, or your time and talents to any of the groups above or an organization of your choice.

Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. our faith formation for elementary-aged, (3 years old – 5th grade), resumes! All children in our congregation, as well as friends and family, are welcome to attend. Contact our church office, 715-735-7898, to let us know so that we can prepare the materials. SPARK lasts one hour and contains a connection with one of the Bible lessons for the upcoming Sunday. There’s time for stories, prayer, crafts and music as together we grow in relationship with God. Prayers for the week of Aug. 30

Aug. 30: Pray that you will be known by your love for others!

Sept. 1: Pray for continued safe travels for all families enjoying traveling before a new school year begins and life becomes busy again!

Sept. 2: As our children go back to school, we pray that God blesses the new school year. Let it be a year filled with grace, favor and goodness.

Sept. 3: As 1 Peter 5:7 states: give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Amen!

Sept 5: International Day of Charity! If you are able, donate to a charity that means something special to you. Pray for all those individuals who will benefit from the donations.
