As we come into the last two chapters of Ephesians, we come upon some passages that have often been taken out of context, misapplied, and even abused. But as we will see, Paul's words here are not to "put people in their places" in a hierarchical order, but rather to radically reorient the church to a fundamentally different way of relating to each other, after the pattern of Jesus Christ, who was a servant to all! Some of you might remember Gerald Heflen, who was a long-time member of our church. His sister was Donna Secrist who passed away a few years ago. Hello Friends, I was so blessed by our time together this morning! Thank you all for opening your hearts to share prayers and testimonies. The Spirit was moving through our corporate time together. I believe it reflects the best of our Friends heritage where we minister to one another!

This week we will be taking a break from our walk through Ephesians to meditate on the Great Cloud of Witnesses in Hebrews 11 and 12. Our sign this week honors one such dearly departed saint, Rev. Dick Pass. We will celebrate his legacy at Mansfield Friends, while also remembering others who have inspired us. Come ready to share testimonies of saints who have gone before you in the faith, and how their lives continue to impact you today.

Our Pastor Emeritus, and devoted member of over 60 years, Richard Pass, has gone to be with the Lord. I can't think of anyone so passionate, loyal, and devoted to our church. Dick was pastor through a time of great transition for our church (1977-1996), that involved moving from the Northside of Mansfield to our current location. He also served in many capacities, including spiritual life elder and counselor to many. Whether in an official position or not, he was a true spiritual pillar for our church, even through times of great difficulty. May his legacy live on as we follow his example!

Hello Friends. We are still planning to have a time of fellowship and potluck after church tomorrow. A lot had been going on this week with the passing of dear sister Hazel, Brother Tony's upcoming surgery, and medical events for Carl and for Ray. In times like this, it's important for the community to gather to bless and support one another, and experience God's healing grace and love together.
