Last week, our friend Shelby Goddard walked the stage at Franklin University to receive her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. Shelby’s incredible work ethic is already making a huge impact in our community through her vital role as the Physicians Manager for Primary Care & Pediatrics at Avita Health System.

But if you watch this video, you aren't just seeing a graduation—you’re seeing a runner passing the baton to herself.

Without missing a single beat, Shelby has already taken the handoff and started the next ambitious leg of her race: pursuing her Doctorate.

We are reminded of Hebrews 12:1: "Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

James Welker August 4, 1934 — June 2, 2026 O'Fallon, IL James “Jim” Welker, of O’Fallon, Illinois, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026 at the Liberty Village Medical Center in Maryville, Illinois.
