To the bereaved mother, your pain may sometimes seem invisible to everyone but you. It may be the heavy coat of grief you slip on each morning as you do your best to face a world who has moved on, leaving you alone to relive your sadness day by day. It may be the physical pain you can't shake or the fog of exhaustion that never seems to lift.
But sister, be encouraged on this Bereaved Mother's Day.
Your loneliness and grief do not disqualify you from walking with Christ. God saw Adam's loneliness in the garden and met his need and he will be faithful to meet your needs. He can be trusted to give you the manna you need for today.
He is worthy of our praise and he is big enough for all of our weeping, doubts, and questions. He wants to bear your burden. The Bible tells us we do not serve a high priest who is unable to empathize with all of our human emotions, but one who shares in our humanity, yet finds joy in his Father despite the weighty pangs of grief and fear on this side of eternity.
Bring your tears, bring your questions and bring your heart to the God who hears. We are not meant to be whole outside of Christ, but he will make up for all of our lack.
Let the God of mercy, the Lion of Judah, fight for you and tend to your weary soul. The call to motherhood is a worthy, holy calling. One day, God will wipe away every tear from your eye, but until then, lean in to the God of all comfort.
Dear friend, you are never alone.
