Saint Anselm Abbey The monks of Saint Anselm Abbey, faithful to the Gospel, live out Christ's Paschal Mystery in community, under the Rule of St. Benedict and an abbot.

The monks of Saint Anselm Abbey, faithful to the Gospel, live out Christ's Paschal Mystery in community, under a rule and an abbot, seeking God through prayer and work. The thirty monks are members of the Order of Saint Benedict (O.S.B.), and follow the sixth-century rule of the order's founder, Saint Benedict of Nursia. The monks pray and celebrate daily the Liturgy of the Hours and the Liturgy

of the Eucharist in the Abbey Church. Living in the monastery located on the campus of Saint Anselm College, the primary labor of the community is work in the college, a labor offered in service to the church.

On Friday, August 14, Mr. Thomas Canuel, Mr. Kiean Hickey, and Mr. Jacob Akey were received into the novitiate and clothed in the monastic habit. Abbot Isaac also gave them their monastic names. Thomas is now known as Brother Philip. His patron is Saint Philip Neri. Kiean is now known as Brother Boniface. His patron is Saint Boniface. Jacob is now known as Brother Abel. His patron is Abel of the Book of Genesis. Father Bernard Disco, O.S.B., will serve as their Novice Master. Please pray for Brothers Philip, Boniface, and Abel as they begin this year of formation. Please continue to pray that our community will be blessed with new vocations.

On Tuesday, June 30th, three men were welcomed into our community as postulants.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Thomas Canuel, Mr. Kiean Hickey, and Mr. Jacob Akey back to Saint Anselm.

Fr. Augustine will serve as their postulant director.

Please pray for these men as they begin their monastic life with us.

Today, April 21, we celebrate the feast day of our patron, Saint Anselm of Canterbury.

“For I do not seek to understand in order that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe that unless I believe I shall not understand.”

We also give thanks to God as our Brother Amadeus will be ordained to the diaconate this evening at 4:30 PM.
