What are you doing with what God has given you?

God has entrusted each of us with time, relationships, abilities, opportunities, and resources. Are we using them for ourselves, or faithfully using them for His Kingdom?

In the final lesson of our series on the parables of Jesus, Craig looks at three lessons on stewardship:

📖 The Rich Fool — Luke 12:13–21

Jesus’ parables challenge us to help others, use our abilities and opportunities for God, and be “rich toward God.”

What does following Jesus actually require?
Many want the blessings of Christianity without accepting the demands of discipleship. We want forgiveness without forgiving others, heaven without sacrifice, and the name “Christian” without allowing Christ to change our lives.
In “Parables on Discipleship,” Craig Simon examines three qualities found in the teachings of Jesus:
• Forsaking—placing Christ above everything else
• Forgiveness—forgiving others from the heart
• Faithfulness—serving God faithfully to the end
Following Jesus is not merely adding religion to an otherwise unchanged life. It means counting the cost, taking up our cross, forgiving as we have been forgiven, and remaining faithful.

Faithfulness involves more than saying the right things. God desires repentance that produces obedience.

In “Parables on Faithfulness,” Darrell Simon examines Jesus’ Parable of the Two Sons and His Parable of the Master and Servant. Together, they teach us to act upon God’s Word, receive correction humbly, serve without seeking recognition, and move faithfully from one task to the next.

Are we merely hearers of God’s Word, or are we faithfully doing what our Father has commanded?

“There is still room.” — Luke 14:22

It can be discouraging when we work, prepare, invite, and do not see the response we had hoped for. But Jesus’ parables remind us that our responsibility is not to stop—we must keep inviting, keep seeing souls as Jesus saw souls, and keep producing the fruit of the kingdom.

In “Jesus’ Parables on Humility,” Craig Simon examines the wedding-feast parables of Luke 14 and Matthew 22. We learn how to approach God with humility, why His invitation must be extended to all, how earthly concerns can become excuses for unfaithfulness, and what it means to put on Christ.

We hope this lesson will encourage you to continue faithfully doing God’s work, even when the visible results are not what you hoped they would be.

❤️ Thank you, Malden!

We had such a wonderful evening at the Malden Community Center School Supply Giveaway! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Malden church of Christ table to visit with us.

We were blessed to give away 100 Bibles, more than 160 Discovery magazines, and 160 four-packs of dry erase markers. We hope each of these items will be a blessing to the families who received them!

🌱 Understanding the Parables of Jesus | Matthew 13

Why did Jesus teach in parables? And how can we be sure we understand what He intended them to mean?

In this lesson, Craig begins our study of the parables by going to Matthew 13, where Jesus not only tells His parables—He explains them.

We examine the Parable of the Sower and the four different responses to the Word of God, as well as the Parable of the Wheat and Tares and its sobering picture of the final judgment.

“The seed is the word of God.” — Luke 8:11

As we hear God’s Word, the question for each of us is: What kind of soil is my heart?

🎥 SERMON RECAP | Seeing People Like Jesus Did

Jesus saw people others overlooked.

The brokenhearted. The outcast. The sinner. The wealthy. The poor. The religious leader. The little child.

In this week’s Sermon Recap, Craig and Darrell look back at our July sermon series on the ministry of Jesus and some of His encounters with people throughout the Gospels.

One of the questions Jesus asked in Luke 7 provides an example for us:

“Do you see this woman?” — Luke 7:44

Jesus didn't simply see a crowd—He saw individuals. He saw souls. He saw people who needed compassion, truth, forgiveness, and the hope of the Gospel.

That is our prayer as well: God, help us see people the way Jesus saw people.
