Solomon opens up his book of Ecclesiastes rather poignantly. "Vanity of vanities... it is all vanity!" As difficult as our faith journey is in strictly striving to live a righteous life for Jesus, how much more cumbersome it becomes when we have to fight the battle of living in a world that offers us so much false hope. To be in the world and yet not of the world. It is the battle for our soul's desires that will always take a front seat in where we choose to direct our time and energy.

What we do in the difficult and troubling times is telling. Especially when we have the capacity and capability to do something more. But do not be misled here with what we are saying. We are not talking about being lazy. Nor are we talking about being haughty. Because it is not about "what" we are able to do but don't, yet rather about "why" we don't do those things. Jesus walked many miles in the valleys of life and yet continued to navigate those roads with a servant heart, looking to live an exampled life to those who watched him. He could have changed his circumstances and pulled himself out of every challenging time, yet he did not. This is the model for us as well that we implore the Holy Spirit to help us live.

Last newsletter of the month. Things may be slowing down a tad for a couple weeks but Camp North Cross will be upon us shortly. We also want to acknowledge all those who have lost their lives serving our country, as we celebrate Memorial Day on Monday. We appreciate our church family and how evident it is God is moving in the hearts of those here.

The journey of the cross is arduous. The "climb" before us is one that will wear us down. And yet, we are not alone. Not just in the present, but when it becomes easier to lose heart and leave the path before us, let us always remember those of the faith who have finished the journey (both in the Bible and in our own lives) as an example that we too can complete the race as well.
