**SUNDAY MESSAGE | The Christ Connection!**
đź“– Matthew 11:28-30

This Sunday, Pastor Canada reminded us that when life becomes heavy, Jesus invites us to come to Him and find rest for our souls.

The message challenged us to:

1. Acknowledge the Weight
Recognize the burdens we are carrying and admit when we need the Lord's help.

2. Accept the Invitation
Take Christ's yoke and stay connected to Him. We do not have to face life's difficult places alone.

3. Acquire a New Method
Sometimes the mission is right, but the method needs to change. We must be willing to follow Christ's way instead of continuing to do things the way we have always done them.

Being connected to Christ does not mean we will never have trouble. It means we do not have to carry those troubles by ourselves. His presence gives us strength, peace, and rest along the way.

Stay connected to Christ. There is rest in Him.

Grandparents Day is coming to Pilgrim Rest!

On Sunday, September 13th, we’re celebrating the love, wisdom, prayers, and legacy of our grandparents. Invite your grandparents to worship with us in person or online as we take time to honor them in a special way.

We will be honoring the life and legacy of our dad, Coach James Russell Woody, with multiple memorial celebrations. 🕊️💙

The first memorial will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 852A Madison Avenue, Madison, Mississippi.

Additional memorial celebrations will also be held in Tuskegee, Alabama and Washington, D.C. Those dates, times, and locations will be announced as arrangements are finalized.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, calls, messages, and support received.

Three cities. One incredible life and legacy. Forever in our hearts. 💙🕊️

Sunday Recap | Esau Is Here: “The Encounter”
đź“– Genesis 33:1-4

This Sunday, Pastor Canada continued the story of Jacob and Esau with a powerful reminder that God can turn the situations we fear most into moments of reconciliation, restoration, and blessing.

Jacob was filled with apprehension as he prepared to face Esau, but what he expected to be a confrontation became an unexpected embrace. Esau ran to Jacob, embraced him, kissed him, and they wept together.

Jacob’s Apprehension. Jacob expected the worst.
Jacob’s Approaching. Jacob humbled himself and moved forward in obedience to God.
Jacob’s Astonishment. What Jacob feared would happen was not what God allowed to happen.

Pastor Canada reminded us that we should not wait until something goes wrong to have an encounter with God. We should recognize His goodness, thank Him for His blessings, and seek Him even when everything is going well.

“God is still the same God yesterday, today, and forevermore.”

Whatever you are facing, remember that God is with you. He is able to turn difficult situations around, restore what has been broken, and make a way when the outcome seems impossible.

Sunday Message Recap: “Esau Is Coming!”

This Sunday, Pastor Canada preached from Genesis 32 and reminded us that Jacob's encounter with Esau teaches us how to prepare for what is ahead.

1. Prepare for the Coming
Live each day with a heart that is ready for the Lord.

2. Pray for the Coming
Bring your fears and concerns to God and trust His promises.

3. Give for the Coming
Let your life be a gift through love, kindness, service, praise and witness.

4. Have a Physical Encounter for the Coming
Like Jacob, be willing to wrestle through difficult seasons and hold on to God until the blessing comes.

The greatest reminder of the message was this: Jesus is coming. Will we be ready?
Let us continue to prepare, pray, serve and hold on to God's unchanging hand.

Whatever we face, God is still able to make a way out of no way.

“There’s another coming, and that name is Jesus Christ.”
