What does God want His church to be?

This Sunday, Guy Burke will be preaching from Acts 2:42–47 on God’s Heart for the Church — a picture of a church devoted to God’s Word, committed to one another, generous in love, and joyful in worship.

We’d love for you to join us at 9:30am or 11:00am as we open God’s Word together and consider what it looks like to be the kind of church God has called us to be.

Come worship with us this Sunday, and bring someone with you!

We loved getting to serve and feed the Old Town Middle School football team before their game! 🏈

This is extraordinary hospitality — using what God has given us to care for others and show the love of Jesus.

What a night!

Volunteer Summit was such a sweet reminder of God’s faithfulness and His provision for our church family.

We’re grateful for those who are already serving faithfully and came ready to learn, grow, and become even more equipped for what God has called them to do. And we’re grateful for those who took a step forward and said, “Yes, I’m in!”

Both are a beautiful picture of God providing exactly what His church needs.

Serving isn’t just filling a spot. It’s joining God in what He’s doing and helping make the hope of Jesus known.

Swipe through a few moments from the night, and let’s keep saying yes to whatever God has for us!

God’s heart has always been for the nations.

1 Chronicles 16 reminds us to “declare his glory among the nations” — and that calling is still ours today.

We aren’t simply saved to sit. We are saved to be sent.

Whether that means crossing an ocean, joining a short-term team, sharing the gospel with a neighbor, welcoming the nations around us, or faithfully praying for the nations — God is inviting each of us to say yes.

His heart for the nations should become our heart for the nations.

Today, we had the joy of celebrating a beautiful step of obedience through believer’s baptism. There’s something special about watching someone say, “I want to follow Jesus and honor Him in obedience.”

That’s worth celebrating!

And the day isn’t over yet. Volunteer Summit is this afternoon!

So much of what happens each week at Colonial Heights is made possible by faithful people who serve behind the scenes — often without much recognition. Today, we get to celebrate some of those unsung heroes who show up, serve others, and use their gifts to point people to Jesus.

From the waters of baptism to the countless acts of faithful service that happen every week, we’re grateful for a church family that keeps saying “yes” to Jesus.

What a good day to be the church together.

What happens when we catch a glimpse of God’s heart for the nations?

This Sunday, we’re opening 1 Chronicles 16:8–36 and seeing a God who calls His people to make His name known — to tell of His goodness, declare His glory, and invite the nations to worship Him.

God’s heart for the nations is not a side note. It’s at the center of His mission — and He invites us to be part of it.

Join us this Sunday at 9:30am or 11:00am. Come worship, come hear from God’s Word, and come be reminded that His heart is for every nation, every people, and every tribe.

Bring a friend and let’s worship together!
