To fully understand and appreciate the good news, however, we must first understand the bad news. In the beginning, God created everything including humans, and we were blessed with a perfect union with our Father. Unfortunately we made the worst mistake possible- we willingly rebelled against our loving Father in sin. This offense is serious business, and cannot go unpunished by a just and holy God. Our rebellion brought death on all mankind, both physical and eternal. There is nothing we can do about this. Our good works cannot make us right with God, because He still requires perfection. But because of His unquenchable love for us, our Father mercifully provided an amazing way out: he sent His only son, Jesus, to be our substitute and to pay our debt. Jesus lived on this earth as a human being and was without sin. His sinless life fulfilled God’s requirement of righteousness. And though he was innocent, he then willingly died a terrible death on a cross– the death that we were supposed to experience because of our disobedience. Three days later, God miraculously raised Jesus from the dead – signifying His acceptance of the sacrifice and the conquering of eternal death. Bottom line, the price for our folly has been paid! The beautiful essence of the gospel is this great exchange: Jesus took our sin and gave us his righteousness. The bridge to our Father has been rebuilt through Jesus Christ! This is a free gift from God that we receive through faith. As the scriptures repeatedly teach, those who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior will be saved. No one who cries out to God through Christ will be turned away, no matter how much they’ve sinned. This is the whole reason why you see us at Good Shepherd joyfully worshiping our King– join us in the celebration of our salvation! Put your faith in Jesus and you will be redeemed from sin’s curse! We'd love to have you join us; don’t hesitate to ask us about our faith in Christ. May God richly bless you today!
