Jesus didn't come offering an escape plan. He offered a new way to be human. In the middle of political chaos, religious division, and imperial power, he announced a different vision of life together. Maybe the upheaval around us is not only collapse. Maybe it is the birth of something new.

Rome said the blessed were the powerful. America often says the blessed are the successful. Jesus begins in the opposite place. Not with the triumphant, but with the exhausted, the defeated, the desperate, and the poor in spirit. A new world is breaking in, and its values are completely different.

Jesus didn't call the powerful blessed. He called the poor in spirit blessed. The exhausted, the afraid, the struggling, the forgotten, the people one crisis away from collapse. Maybe the kingdom begins exactly where the empire says people matter least.
