Yesterday Philippians 3:1-8 reminded us that our value is not found in what we do, accomplish, or produce, but in Christ alone.

As we celebrate Labor Day, may we work faithfully with good character, representing Christ without allowing our work to define us, because our identity and worth are secure in Him.

Thank You, God, for the work You give us, the rest You provide, and our worth and identity being grounded in our faith in and relationship with Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

What a beautiful Sunday at OMC. What a gift to worship, remember, and celebrate the goodness of Christ together as His church.
Our time of worship helped us quiet the distractions, focus our hearts, and fix our eyes on Christ as we prepared to hear God’s Word. As Pastor Mark continued our Defiant Joy series, we gleaned from Paul’s example and were reminded that our joy is not dependent on our circumstances and our identities are rooted in who Christ is and what He has done for us.

We were blessed to partake in communion together, remembering the sacrifice of Jesus and the hope we have through Him.

Jesus, help us to Abide in You and find our joy in Your presence no matter what we face. Keep our hearts focused on You, and teach us to count all things as loss compared to knowing You, as we lean fully into the identity and worth we find in Christ alone. In Jesus name, Amen.

Yesterday, Dr. David Stevens challenged us with this question as we looked at the lives of Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus life and his willingness to sacrifice everything for Christ. Are we willing to gamble with our lives for the sake of the gospel? Paul could live with such boldness because he had discovered joy in prayer, joy in the spiritual growth of others, joy in the unity of believers, joy in sacrificial living, and joy in all circumstances. When our joy is rooted in Christ, we can be willing to risk comfort, safety, and even our own lives for the sake of the gospel.
