Though he passed earlier this year, his impact continues to remind us that justice work is both urgent and enduring.

Black maternal health is not just a healthcare issue — it is a reproductive justice issue.

It is about the right to be heard, protected, respected, and cared for before, during, and after birth. It is about every Black woman having the power to make decisions about her body, the support to bring life into the world safely, and the resources to raise that life with dignity, care, and joy.

This Black Maternal Health Week, we honor the mothers, protect the birthing people, uplift the families, and advocate for a future where Black life is valued at every stage.

Her leadership helped shape who we are today, and her legacy will continue to guide our work and mission. We honor her life, her impact, and the lasting foundation she leaves behind.

December is HIV Awareness Month.
HIV doesn’t just affect individuals — it affects families, communities, and access to dignity.
And the reality is this: stigma, healthcare barriers, and discrimination still harm far too many, especially Black women, LGBTQ+ people, and marginalized communities.

Healing is a human right.
Community is a human right.
Justice is a human right.

Today we honor Rosa Parks; a woman whose brave stand for justice still guides us toward equality, dignity, and the right for every person to live freely. Her courage reminds us that the fight for freedom is interconnected, from civil rights to reproductive justice.

Today, we honor all who have served, and we also acknowledge that not all veterans have been treated equally. LGBTQ+ service members have fought for our freedoms, even while facing discrimination, silence, and barriers to care after returning home.

This Veterans Day, let’s recognize their courage — not only on the battlefield, but in the fight to live authentically and with dignity.
