On June 19, 1865, a national holiday known as Juneteenth, peace on earth inched closer to the kingdom of God’s goals. 🙌✝️

For a people who were traded, beaten, and oppressed in every sense of the word, a monumental step forward into freedom + peace was taken. ⛓️‍💥

Jesus acknowledges in his teaching on the Mount a direct correlation between “blessing” and those who “work for peace,” and ultimately describes those who work for peace as resonating with the person of God, thus being called “children of God.”

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9, NLT

Today remembers a moment of action that accelerated toward peace for Black people + communities in our nation 160 years ago, and a shift toward full peace for more of humanity; peace and freedom are kingdom principles we must engage in as children of God. 🕊️

May we celebrate Juneteenth with our Black sisters and brothers today, but also push forward in our peacemaking as children of God until the actualization of His kingdom is experienced by all people. ✝️🤲❤️🌏

Easter Sunday 🌅

Easter is the beginning of the New Creation, where we’re invited to participate in resurrection life right now, not just eventually.

The empty tomb means every broken thing can be made whole, and every captive is set free- because Jesus is alive and His kingdom is at hand.

The resurrection sends us out as people of hope, renewal and joy, empowered to live as witnesses to the impossible made possible.

The promise of Easter is this: because Christ lives, everything—including us—is being made new.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

He is Risen indeed!

Holy Saturday ⚫️

This day honors the reality of unresolved pain and unanswered questions, the ‘meantime’ we often resist but constantly inhabit.

Holy Saturday teaches patience, trust and faith in the dark.

This day invites us to remember that waiting time is not wasted time when entrusted to God.

Silence doesn’t mean absence.

God is still at work, even when we can’t see it.
