Day 2 — Shine
Scripture: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Today, we pray for all our local school and county educators, administrators, and staff.
In the hustle, bustle, and nervousness of preparing children for a new school year, parents and guardians can sometimes forget that each school year is a new beginning for educators, too. Teachers and administrators may also wonder what the year ahead will hold. Like the rest of us, they have families, responsibilities, and concerns at home, while also carrying the responsibility of nurturing and supporting our children throughout the school day.
Lord, bless them as they prepare for the year ahead. As teachers read the names of the students on their rosters, may they see more than names on a list. May they see sons and daughters of the King of Kings and each one worthy of love, fairness and mercy.
Protect our educators from overwhelm and burnout as the year progresses. On difficult days, renew their strength. In moments of frustration, give them patience. And each day, may they catch a glimpse of Your divine spark in the students before them, reminding them of the importance of their calling and encouraging them to keep shining Your light.
For our administrators, Jesus, give them wisdom and discernment. Help them to lead with love, courage, humility, and grace. May their schools be places of safety, both physically and emotionally, where students and staff feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
We pray that faculty and staff will respect and support their administrators as they carry out new ideas and initiatives. In the same way, may administrators listen to, encourage, and support their faculty and staff. Create a spirit of unity within our schools so that everyone can work together for the good of the children they serve. May our schools shine with an inner light reflected by the faith and strength of the Christian staff members and students.
Lord, we also lift up homeschool teachers, directors, and families. Bless their homes, their classrooms, and their relationships. Sometimes it can be challenging when the teacher and the setting do not change from one year to the next. Even when the surroundings are familiar, breathe fresh life into this new school year and let your goodness shine.
May it truly feel like a new beginning—a year filled with fresh possibilities, renewed joy, new discoveries, and Your goodness in the days ahead.
And through every teacher, administrator, staff member, and homeschool educator, may Your light shine brightly so that the children in their care might see something of Your patience, compassion, wisdom, and love.
Jesus bless our children and schools. Amen
