Hi friends!! We have something pretty special to share with you all.

We are excited to share that the United Methodist Church of Ludington has been recognized as a Safe Gatherings Certified organization for 2026!

This recognition reflects something that is incredibly important to us: creating a church where children, youth, vulnerable adults, volunteers, and families can feel safe, welcomed, and cared for.

Safe Gatherings helps us strengthen our commitment to safety through screening, background checks, training, and policies designed to protect the people entrusted to our care.

Of course, a certificate isn’t the end of the work. Keeping our church safe is an ongoing commitment that takes all of us. We are incredibly thankful for every staff member and volunteer who completes the necessary training and screening and takes seriously the responsibility of caring for others.

We’re proud of this recognition — and even more proud of the culture of safety, care, and accountability it represents. ❤️

Because everyone deserves a safe place to belong.

This is Dokoda’s blog for GYPC! 😁😁

Dokoda Holt-Sharp left the Global Young People’s Convocation with a renewed passion for ensuring young people are fully involved at every level of leadership in the Church.

Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries, Ludington UMC

When I boarded the plane for the Global Young People’s Convocation (GYPC) in Dublin, Ireland, I knew I would attend an incredible event. What I didn’t anticipate was how deeply it would shape my heart, my ministry, and my vision for the future of the Church.

One of the first things that struck me was the incredible diversity around me. Everywhere I looked, there were people from different countries, speaking different languages, and carrying different traditions and experiences. At first, those differences were simply fascinating. But as the week unfolded, they became something much more meaningful.

Young adult William Thomsen attended the Global Young People’s Convocation in Dublin earlier this month. In his reflections on the event, Thomsen shares that he was inspired by the experience to go into ministry. Fifteen Michigan United Methodists joined about 600 other youth and young adults at the Global Young People’s Convocation in Dublin, Ireland.

In this MIfaith special, Gordon Grigg and William Thomsen share their reflections on how this gathering deepened their faith and instilled hope for the future Church.
Saying the Global Young People’s Convocation (GYPC) was a fantastic experience would be an understatement. I am deeply grateful to the members, churches, boards, and agencies of the Michigan Conference whose financial and spiritual investments made it possible for our young people to attend. It was profoundly refreshing to step into a space where young people weren’t the anomaly and to connect with peers from 15 countries across our global United Methodist connection.
