Sunday we hear about the faceoff between Jesus and the devil in the wilderness. Try as he might, the devil could not deflect Jesus from his perfect trust in God.

And Sunday we continue our Lenten reflection on Holy Communion, emphasizing this year the things we experience at the table of the Lord: on this first Sunday, the experience of Grace.

When Jesus is acclaimed with the voice from heaven declaring “You are my Son” – it is a claim that must be tested. The devil comes to urge him to be less than he is.
