Vesak Day of Compassion, Mindfulness & Service 🪷❤️🩸

Blessed and grateful to be part of this meaningful Vesak Day program at Chicago Buddhist Vihara, where devotees gathered for a peaceful one-day meditation retreat, Dhamma practice, and a life-saving blood donation drive.

Vesak reminds us not only to honor the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha, but also to put His teachings into action through generosity, compassion, mindfulness, and selfless service to humanity. Seeing so many practitioners united in meditation, Dhamma reflection, and acts of kindness was truly inspiring.

Standing on the Steps of Religious Harmony ✨

Standing on this luminous staircase at the Art Institute of Chicago — the very place connected to the historic 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions — I felt deeply inspired by the timeless message of universal acceptance, compassion, and harmony among all faiths.

These illuminated steps beautifully carry the powerful words of Swami Vivekananda, whose famous opening, “Sisters and Brothers of America,” touched thousands of hearts and became a landmark call for religious tolerance and global unity.

This historic gathering also welcomed the inspiring voice of Anagarika Dharmapala from Sri Lanka, who courageously introduced the wisdom of the Buddha and the message of peace, mindfulness, and compassion to the Western world. His contribution remains a proud and unforgettable chapter in Buddhist history.

As I stood on these steps, I reflected on how much our modern world still needs these timeless values — not division, hatred, or fanaticism, but understanding, kindness, and mutual respect among all beings.
