National Day of Prayer 2026
"In 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed a joint resolution of Congress establishing an annual National Day of Prayer. President Ronald Reagan later set the date as the first Thursday in May, a tradition that continues today. Each year, the President issues a proclamation encouraging all Americans regardless of background to turn to God in prayer and meditation.
As America approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, many hearts are turning toward reflection, gratitude, and hope for the future. On Thursday, May 7, 2026, believers across the country will gather for the National Day of Prayer for America in 2026 the 75th annual observance since its formal establishment. This isn’t just another calendar date; it’s a sacred opportunity to pause amid division, uncertainty, and rapid change, and collectively seek God’s wisdom for our leaders, families, communities, and the generations to come.
Whether you’re joining a public gathering, praying quietly at home, or organizing a small group, this day invites personal repentance, unified intercession, and renewed dependence on the One who holds nations in His hands."
(If you live in Logansport, there is a public gathering from 11:30-12:30 at Calvary Presbyterian Church that day.)
