Over the next several weeks, we'll be reintroducing the incredible staff members who help make Westminster such a special place. Follow along as we share a little about each team member, their role, and what makes them such an important part of our ministry.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Laurie McCubbin 🌟

This week, we're reintroducing Laurie McCubbin, Preschool Director at Westminster!

Laurie joined Westminster while looking for the right leadership opportunity after outgrowing her previous teaching role. When she discovered the Preschool Director position, she was thrilled to find it was practically right down the street from her home!

A Bible verse that is especially meaningful to her:
"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
-Proverbs 22:6
Laurie said, "It means a lot to me to have each of our students as they grow and go into the world, to remember that God loves them and is there for them through every light and dark moment."

Laurie's favorite part of Westminster:
"Probably the Preschool!"
She also loves Westminster's beautiful building and the rich history it holds.

When she's not at Westminster, you'll find her:
• Walking her dog
• Traveling
• Reading
• Creating holiday decorations for the Preschool
• Remembering her days on a local trivia team!

Laurie's favorite travel destination:
Scotland, where she visited her best friend.

If she could have dinner with any biblical figure (other than Jesus):
She would choose to dine with St. Anthony so he could help her find all the things she's misplaced around the house!

Welcome Hunter Stewart to Westminster’s Staff!
Hunter Stewart is our new Full-Time Finance Manager, overseeing financial accounting and operations with our Finance Committee.

Hunter has a B.S. in Business Administration from
the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and has worked as a staff accountant at UN-L and with Resort Lifestyle Communities. He also has extensive intern experience with Catholic Social Services. Hunter began in the office this past Tuesday, June 2, working Monday –Friday.

Hunter’s hire begins a season of transition from part-time bookkeeping with outsourced accounting to in-house work for the Church, Preschool, and Foundation. We hope you’ll warmly welcome Hunter soon!

Join Presbyterians for Earth Care tonight at 6:00 P.M. for a Co-Moderator Candidate Panel online! Pastor Chris will be one of four pairs of leaders standing for the office of Co-Moderator at this summer's PC(USA) General Assembly. All Co-Moderator pairs will serve as panelists in tonight's discussion.

Westminster - Lincoln is a Certified PC(USA) Earth Care Congregation, committing annually to the four-part Earth Care Pledge. This pledge is our commitment as a congregation, "to be careful, humble stewards of this earth" and to "deal justly with neighbors and the earth in our worship, education, facilities, and outreach."

If you’ve noticed more cars in the parking lot this summer / this week – Westminster is the host site for the Youth Actors Academy of Lincoln (YAAL) Summer Camps for 2026! This partnership reflects our vision to be better connected with our community, supportive of children and youth, and to embrace the arts!

This summer we also continue to host our annual Westminster Preschool Summer Camp many weeks, occasional Lincoln City Libraries Story Times, and of course, Westminster-Good Shepherd Vacation Bible School July 13-17! YAAL will be utilizing the Youth Café and Rooms, along with Fellowship Hall for several performances.

NOTICE: Due to unforeseen challenges with our current building, YAAL will be relocating, effective immediately. We understand this news may come as a surprise, and some of you may feel sad to leave the space we have all grown to love. The good news is that we have secured a welcoming temporary home....

🔥 This Sunday is Pentecost! 🔥

Join us for worship as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. Don’t forget to wear your red as we remember the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Chris will share a message titled “A Holy Duolingo Moment.”

Please note: there will be no Adult Ed this week due to the holiday weekend.

As the school year wraps up for our Westminster Preschool friends and all of our students, teachers, and school staff, we'd like to wish everyone a safe, restful, and memorable summer!

A special shoutout to all our Preschool graduates and Seniors as they move on to their next chapters. We're so proud of you and can't wait to see what's ahead!
