Thank you, First Lutheran, for your generous response to our ingathering for ConnectioN Point!

Members donated new and gently used household items that will help bless individuals and families as they settle into homes, care for their families and meet everyday needs. We were so pleased by the volume of donations—and especially touched by the quality and care reflected in them. Many of the items were brand new, showing once again the thoughtful generosity of this congregation.

These gifts are more than towels, kitchen items and household supplies. They are signs of welcome, dignity, care and hope for the people who will receive them.

Thank you for sharing so generously and for helping us extend Christ’s love beyond our walls and into the community.

Dear First Lutheran,

Salaam.

We are, FINALLY, about to begin building your House for Health in Tanzania. Yours will be House #199 in this long running Houses for Health program.

The recipient of your home is the family of Okuli Ombeni Nkya. Ms Nkya is a 42 year old widow living with 12 year old daughter Glory. Ms Nkya is living with epilepsy. As the attached pictures show, their current house is barely a house.

Her family has given her a small plot on which we can build a House for Health.

To get started, we met with the family, clan elders, neighbors, village/church leaders and others who all signed a document stating that when we build a house on this site for the Nkyas, it will belong to them. I expect to sign a contract with our builder who uses all local labor, including that from the nearby neighborhood, and 100% Tanzanian materials.

This house will be a sign to this family and community that through God someone cares, that good things can happen and there is hope for the future. .

It usually takes about 6 weeks to complete a house. Weather and the upcoming holidays can affect that and we are heading into the "Big Rain" season.

I will be back to you then with pictures of their new house once it is completed.

Thank you for thinking of the very poor in Tanzania.

As summer approaches, First Lutheran will begin our summer worship schedule May 31. This seasonal change gives us a chance to gather as one church family in worship, prayer, song and fellowship during the summer months.

Sunday worship will be held at 9:30 AM, with the service also available by livestream. Saturday worship will continue at 5:00 PM.

Fellowship time will be offered in the Activity Center from 9:00-9:30 AM and again from 10:30-11:00 AM. Adult Forum and Faithful Conversations will meet from 10:40-11:30 AM.

Whether you are here every week or traveling in and out throughout the summer, we hope you will make worship part of your summer plans. Each week, we will gather around God’s word, share in the gift of community and be reminded of God’s steady presence in every season.

We look forward to worshiping together this summer. All are welcome!

Gone, but not forgotten.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and give thanks for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We also hold close the memory of loved ones we have lost, giving thanks for the ways their lives continue to shape and bless us.

May we honor them with lives of gratitude, peace and care for one another.

We will always remember.

This Sunday is Pentecost, the day we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and mark the close of the Easter season. It’s often called the birthday of the church—a reminder that, through the Spirit, even hesitant followers became messengers of God’s love.

You’re invited to wear red to worship, a symbol of the fiery energy and movement of the Spirit, and the courage God gives us to live out our faith.

Pentecost also ushers in Ordinary Time—a season for steady growth, everyday faith and trusting the Spirit’s quiet guidance.

Wherever you are in your journey, we hope you’ll join us this Saturday at 5:00 PM or Sunday at 8:15 or 10:45 AM as we give thanks and celebrate together.
