The leaves haven't quite turned yet, but you can feel it—summer's winding down and a new season is here. And we couldn't be more ready.

This is the time of year when we start to think about new rhythms, including spiritual ones. September is a great time to consider getting back to church.

If you're new to us, or it's been a while, here's who we are in a sentence: we're a group of ordinary people following Jesus and trying to serve well—our families, our neighbors, and this town we love. We're not perfect. We're just walking the road together.

Ligonier, this is your invitation. God is doing something here, and there's room at the table for you. Come as you are. Bring the kids. Bring your questions. You'll find people who are glad you came.

And if you've been around for a bit and you're wondering what it would look like to really belong here, we've got something for you. In September, we're offering "Discover Heritage", a class for anyone curious about membership—what we believe, why we do what we do, and how you can find your place in the life of this church. No pressure, just a chance to lean in a little further.

Sundays: September 13, 20, & 27

Sunday afternoon at Keystone Lake, we celebrated the baptism of four individuals as they took their next right step with Jesus. Baptism is a significant milestone; it publicly identifies us with Jesus and connects us to our church family. We plan to make baptism at the lake an annual event. We aim to be a church that witnesses Jesus transforming every life, every home, and every corner of the Ligonier Valley. Let’s stay focused on our purpose as we live and serve Jesus together.

We get to engage in great ministry here at Heritage church! As we continue to grow into a church family that prioritizes helping people know, follow, and share Jesus, moments like this will become foundational for us. On Saturday, we held our first Back to School Bash. Our Kids Ministry director, Evelyn Lemmon, and her team engaged with children and families from our community during a morning filled with fun, games, food, and the distribution of FREE backpacks for kids preparing for school. We were able to connect with twenty-three families, many of whom do not attend Heritage, and build new relationships with them. Thanks to everyone who served and brought the good news of Jesus into people's lives.

TAME: Taking Control of the Most Powerful Muscle You Own

Did you know your tongue never rests — not even while you sleep? It's small, but it steers your whole life, for better or worse. In this 4-week series, we dig into what Scripture says about the words we speak and why they matter so much more than we think.

Your words reveal what's really going on in your heart.

Join us this weekend, and every weekend in August, for this important teaching from the Bible.

Heritage joined this movement just 3 years ago. Great things are already happening. Here’s a reminder of who we are.

DID YOU KNOW?
The fastest-growing Methodist movement in the world isn’t inventing something new. It is carrying forward the historic Christian faith.

The Global Methodist Church is new, but its message is not new. It is rooted in historic Christianity, the authority of Scripture, and the Wesleyan belief that God’s grace does more than forgive us — it changes us.

The GMC is not simply another denomination. It is a fresh Methodist movement seeking to recover the heart of the Church’s mission and remember what the Church is for.

Why the Global Methodist Church Matters**

1. To be clear about Scripture.**
The GMC believes the Bible is the Word of God and the final authority for Christian faith and life. That gives the Church a solid foundation in a confusing world.

2. To keep Jesus at the center.**
The main message is not politics, personalities, or church structure. The message is Jesus Christ — crucified, risen, reigning, and still transforming lives today.

3. To proclaim that grace changes people.**
Methodism has always taught that God’s grace forgives, restores, heals, and makes us holy. The GMC carries that message forward through the preached Word, prayer, discipleship, and the holy sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

4. To be serious about discipleship.**
The goal is not just to get people to attend church. The goal is to help people follow Jesus, grow in faith, love God, love others, and live differently.

5. To be a mission-focused church.**
The GMC is built around the call to make disciples. Churches are encouraged to reach their communities, serve their neighbors, and share the Gospel.

6. To value both truth and love.**
The GMC does not believe we have to choose between being faithful to Scripture and loving people. Christian love tells the truth with humility, compassion, and grace.

7. To preserve accountability.**
Pastors, bishops, churches, and leaders are expected to be accountable to the faith they profess. Leadership is meant to serve the Church, not control it.

8. To honor the local church.**
The GMC recognizes that local congregations are not just institutions. They are worshiping communities where real people pray, serve, give, teach, and carry out ministry. Local congregations own their property and assets. There is no trust clause holding church property over them. And if a congregation ever believes it can no longer remain in the GMC, it is not trapped. After a period of prayer and discernment, it may leave by a majority vote. In that sense, the GMC is meant to be a church of the willing, not the constrained.

9. To be connected without losing local mission.**
GMC churches are connected to one another for support, accountability, and shared mission, while still allowing local churches to focus on the needs of their own communities.

10. To be a movement of renewal.**
No church made up of people is perfect. But the GMC is seeking, by God’s grace, to carry out the mission of God by calling the Church back to Scripture, holiness, evangelism, worship, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

The Global Methodist Church is worth becoming part of because it is new in organization, but ancient in message: Jesus Christ is Lord, God’s Word is true, grace transforms, holiness matters, and the Church still has a mission.

We believe this is a movement of God in our generation — not trying to reinvent the Church, but trying to remember what the Church is for. ❤️ ✝️ 📖 🔥 🌎

This weekend is a little bigger than usual. This Fourth of July, our country turns 250 years old. Most of us won’t see another one of these milestone birthdays. So whatever you already feel about the Fourth, this one’s historic.

And if you’re being honest, you feel something. Pride. Gratitude. Maybe some complicated stuff mixed in there, too.

So here’s the question I want to ask: What do I do with that feeling as a Christian?

Is it okay to love my country — especially on a milestone like this one? Is it dangerous? And if I’m allowed to love it — how do I love it without it owning me?

Because here’s what I’ve noticed. The church tends to handle this in one of two ways. Some of us wrap the cross in the flag so tightly you can’t tell where the faith ends, and the patriotism starts. Others get so nervous about that mistake that they check out completely — won’t sing a patriotic song, won’t say thank you to a veteran, and treat any affection for country like it’s spiritually suspicious.

Join us this weekend, and every July weekend, as we seek to answer this question: "How Do I Love My Country without Losing My Soul?"
