The name Maundy Thursday comes from the Latin phrase "mandatum," which means "command." It stems from Jesus's words at the Last Supper: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you." That command is beyond anything in the Bible so far: the Ten Commandments, the Law of Moses, or the words of the prophets. It's worth our serious consideration.
