Yesterday, I cast my vote, and today I urge every Haitian-American citizen to join me in voting for Kamala Harris. If you stand proud of your heritage and your values, cast your vote for a candidate who respects our communities—one whose name is not tied to corruption, one who believes in the strength of true democracy. Kamala Harris has a vision for a prosperous America that includes each of us, with policies that uplift immigrant communities, whether Haitian, Mexican, or beyond.

This election isn’t just about policies; it’s about values and respect. We cannot afford to revisit the chaos and division of the past. The last four years under Trump brought us police brutality, countless lives lost due to negligence in the face of a pandemic, and an assault on the foundations of democracy. Together, let’s make sure our voices are heard and secure a future that honors democracy and respects every citizen. Vote for a candidate who genuinely represents all of us.

In contrast, his administration took a notably tougher stance on Haitian immigrants, including the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and remarks that were widely perceived as disparaging towards their nation.

These differences in approach may have been influenced by cultural biases, geopolitical considerations, or international relations. It is worth noting that President Trump faced considerable criticism for his broader immigration policies, particularly for the stark disparities in how his administration treated immigrants from developing nations such as Haiti, compared to those from European countries.

My fellow Haitian-Americans, the time has come for us to stand together and exercise our democratic power. We cannot afford to support leaders who show us nothing but disrespect, divisiveness, and discrimination. Donald Trump and J.D. Vance have consistently shown through their words and actions that they do not value our community or the contributions we make to this country. Their harmful rhetoric and smear campaigns have made it clear where they stand. Now, we must make it clear where we stand. Let us unite and ensure that our voices are heard by refusing to vote for Trump, J.D. Vance, or anyone who promotes division and intolerance. Together, we can demand the respect we deserve.

Trump's rhetoric on immigration is both misleading and hypocritical. He repeatedly spreads falsehoods about immigrants, assuming that many will accept his narrative. However, it's important to remember that his own mother was an immigrant who arrived in the U.S. with just $1,200 to her name, and this country was built by immigrants. His father was also an immigrant, and many of the buildings he takes credit for were constructed with the labor of immigrant workers. Even today, his companies continue to hire immigrants, often for lower wages, while he publicly vilifies them.
