Rain on your wedding day is often considered a bad omen, but there are many reasons why it can actually be a good thing. In many cultures, rain is seen as a symbol of fertility, abundance, and good luck. It is believed to wash away bad luck and negativity, leaving behind positive energy and blessings. Additionally, the difficulty of untying a knot when it's wet is a metaphor for the strength and endurance of a marriage.

There are also practical reasons why rain on your wedding day can be a good thing. It creates a romantic and intimate atmosphere and can make for beautiful wedding photos. Many famous and historical figures have embraced rain on their wedding day and used it to create unforgettable moments.

One of the most famous examples is Grace Kelly, who married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in a rainy ceremony in 1956. Despite the rain, the wedding was a grand affair, with over 600 guests in attendance. Another famous couple who were married in the rain is Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith, who got married in 2001 in a ceremony that was disrupted by a sudden downpour. However, the couple embraced the rain and used it to create beautiful wedding photos.

Historically, one of the most famous weddings in the rain was the marriage of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Josephine. The couple got married in 1796 in a small town in France during a thunderstorm. Despite the bad weather, the couple's love and commitment to each other prevailed, and they went on to have a happy and prosperous marriage.

In the Bible, rain is often seen as a blessing from God, a sign of favor and blessing. In Deuteronomy 28:12, it says, "The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand." The Song of Solomon, a book in the Bible, also uses rain to describe the intimacy and passion between lovers, suggesting that rain can be a sign of love and connection between two people.

In conclusion, rain on your wedding day may not be what you had hoped for, but it is not necessarily a bad thing. It can be a symbol of fertility, prosperity, and unity. It can also create a romantic and intimate atmosphere, making your wedding day all the more special. So, if it rains on your wedding day, embrace it, and remember that it is a sign of good luck and a prosperous future together, just like many famous and historical couples did.

Unplugged or Not?

Dear Couples,

As your wedding day approaches, it's important to consider all the details that will make your special day memorable and meaningful. One trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years is the unplugged wedding ceremony.
An unplugged wedding ceremony is one in which guests are asked to put away their phones, cameras, and other electronic devices, and be fully present in the moment. This means no texting, no selfies, and no distractions from the beautiful ceremony unfolding before them.

There are many benefits to having an unplugged wedding ceremony. For one, it ensures that your guests are fully engaged and present in the moment, rather than being distracted by their devices. It also allows for a more intimate and meaningful experience, as guests are able to connect with the ceremony and the couple in a deeper way.

Of course, there are some potential drawbacks to consider as well. Some guests may be resistant to the idea of putting away their devices, and it may be difficult to enforce the rule without causing offense. Additionally, if you want to share photos or videos of the ceremony on social media, an unplugged ceremony may make it harder to get the shots you want.

As your wedding officiant, I can help you weigh the pros and cons of an unplugged wedding ceremony, and help you make the right decision for your special day. Whether you choose an unplugged ceremony or opt for a more technology-friendly approach, I am here to help you create a wedding ceremony that is personal, meaningful, and unforgettable.

If you would like to discuss your wedding ceremony further, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here to help you create a wedding ceremony that reflects your unique love story and celebrates your commitment to each other.

Sincerely,
Rev. Michael Schmidt
