Reach Community Church

Reach Community Church Come experience the presence of God in a church with real people, who love Jesus. Sunday Services: 9 am and 10:45 am @ Leland Senior Center 121 Town Hall Dr.

Reach is a community of followers of Jesus that isn’t here in Leland just to plant another church. We are committed to taking Jesus outside the walls of a building to His people. Building community takes time and Reach is here for the long haul.

Just as the biblical gatekeepers protected the sacred of the temple, we, too, must be diligent in keeping watch over the gates of access to those things that are personally most precious to us.  In other words, what about the gates into each of our homes?

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.” Acts 20:28,29

Could this be also true about our homes if our guard is not up? ~ Don Bernard

❓Questions to dive deeper into your relationship with Christ:

1. David confessed his sin before he built the altar. Why do you think repentance is open a missing part of worship today? Is there anything in your life that you need to bring honestly before God?
2. Gad told David to go, and David went without excuses, delay, or bargaining. What is one area where God has been calling you to obey Him, but you’ve been hesitant or resistant?
3. What are some ways Christians can give God their leftovers instead of their best? Looking at your time, priorities, finances, and relationships, where is God asking for greater surrender?
4. What are you most tempted to trust in besides God (abilities, career, money, relationships, experience, reputation, etc.)? How can you actively demonstrate dependence on Him this week?
5. How has God redeemed a failure, disappointment, or painful season in your life? How does the cross remind us that God can bring mercy and restoration out of our greatest mistake?

We live in a culture that wants everything to be easy, convenient, and inexpensive. We want: Fast food, Fast internet, Fast results, and Convenient Christianity. Many people approach worship the same way. We want worship that fits our schedule. Worship that doesn’t interrupt our plans. Worship that doesn’t require sacrifice. Worship that costs us nothing. But throughout Scripture, worship has always involved sacrifice. When Abraham worshiped, it cost him a journey and his son. When the widow worshiped, it cost her two mites. When Mary worshiped Jesus, it cost her an alabaster jar worth a year’s wages. When Jesus worshiped the Father through obedience, it cost Him His life. And here in 2 Samuel 24, David teaches us a powerful truth: Worship that costs nothing is worth nothing. ~ Pastor Heath

As we close out this “Disciples Follow Jesus” series, I think it’s important to realize where Jesus has been taking us these last several weeks. We started with the simple invitation of Jesus: “Follow Me.” Because before disciples do anything for Jesus, they must first surrender to Jesus. Week 2 We talked about staying ready—living with urgency and faithfulness because Jesus is returning and disciples don’t drift through life asleep. Week 3 We learned that disciples forgive because forgiven people are called to walk in forgiveness toward others. Week 4 We saw that
disciples do what Jesus says—even when it doesn’t make sense, even before they see the miracle, because obedience is part of following. Week 5 Then we came to the crossroads in John 6 where Jesus gave hard teachings and many walked away, reminding us that disciples don’t just follow Jesus when it’s easy—they stay when it’s costly because He alone has the words of life. Week 6 Last week we saw that disciples were never meant to follow Jesus in their own strength. The Spirit of God fills ordinary people with extraordinary power so they can live boldly and faithfully for Christ. And now we arrive at the natural conclusion of all of it:
Disciples don’t just follow Jesus personally… disciples help other people follow Jesus too. Because real discipleship always moves outward.
• The forgiven become forgivers.
• The taught become teachers.
• The Spirit-filled become witnesses.
• The followers become disciple-makers.
Jesus never intended for His disciples to simply gather information, attend church, and keep their faith private. He called us to live on mission. Because disciples follow Jesus…and disciples make disciples. ~ Pastor Heath

This Sunday, we officially commissioned the men participating Brotherhood at Reach.

Brotherhood is a 6-month journey for men to grow closer to the men God has called them to be - not through striving on their own, but through a willingness to submit to the transforming power of God.

We’re praying for growth, accountability, strength, and deeper faith as these men step into this season together.

Excited to see what God will do through Brotherhood in the months ahead.

❓Questions to dive deeper into your relationship with Christ:

1. Jesus said, “This is a hard saying.” What is one teaching of Jesus that you personally find difficult to accept or live out?
2. “Proximity doesn’t equal surrender.” What’s the difference between being around Jesus and truly following Jesus?
3. The crowd began leaving when following Jesus became costly. Why do you think people are often willing to follow Jesus when life is easy, but struggle when obedience costs something?
4. Peter responded, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” What does Peter’s response teach us about faith during seasons when we don’t fully understand what God is doing?
5. The sermon ended with the challenge: “Follow deeper… or walk away.” Where do you feel Jesus calling you to follow Him more deeply right now?
