COUNTING ON YOU

Good morning, all! Father, when all else fails we know we can count on You always. Your love for us never changes, and Your thoughts of us exceed more in number than all the grains of sand this world holds. We love You Lord, strengthen us and fill us with Your truth so You can count on us to share the only message worthy of Your glory, Amen.



1 Timothy 1



12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;



I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He is counting on me to remain faithful to minister the gospel.



13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.



Although I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my foolishness, I persecuted his people and hurt them. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.



14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.



And yet God as generous and gracious and filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.



15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.



This is a faithful saying, which ALL are found worthy to accept it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to SAVE sinners"--and I am the worst of them all.





Bottom line – What if God is personally counting on you? And what if you believed it? Would it change how you SEE life? That’s Paul’s message this morning, now you can’t disconnect it from why Jesus came in the first place which I think we often lose sight of that one, why did Jesus come? To SAVE us…full stop! I love how Paul gives all the glory to God, not only does he acknowledge the power given to him, but he says God COUNTED him faithful, for what? SAVE people! Faithful doesn’t mean perfect, it means YOU don’t give up. But isn’t that true faith? Not giving up! Think about it, what if God gave up on us? He would have good reason with me, I try and I try and still make mistakes…oh well, I had my chance…so the world would say but NOT so with God. [2Ti 2:13 NLT] 13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is. The very nature of God is to remain faithful to US, there is no such thing as oh well, you blew it…He can’t DENY who He is…FAITHFUL. That’s what makes Him great and that’s what defines His love, right? True love will NEVER give up on a person; we should always leave room for God to move on a heart and believe for the best. [Heb 11:1 NIV] 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see yet. Powerful, faith is this…first, it should be CONFIDENT and second is to have HOPE…a positive outcome even though you don’t SEE it yet. Paul was counted faithful by God even though he blasphemed and hurt people, however, God was still counting on him to go change the world. Now before you question if you’re worthy of the call, here’s how Paul frames up those thoughts…All are worthy to accept the call including him which he also labels himself the absolute WORST sinner of all. You see, what is the universal truth of our sin? Salvation!!! It’s not about the depth of our sin it’s about the depth of His love. [Eph 3:18 NLT] And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. Do you have the power to UNDERSTAND…the width…the world…the length…eternity…the height…heaven…the depth…your hell. God isn’t putting you in hell, He’s going in after you…TRUE LOVE. I don’t think we’ll ever fully understand the depth of God’s love because our minds are finite and of course, His is infinite…NO limit to the power of His understanding or His love. There is a powerful verse I often quote to help my foolish thoughts grasp the power of His love, you might want to quote this one too. [Psa 130:3-4 NIV] If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Are you still standing this morning? Then give the Lord thanks because His nature is NOT to record all your wrong doings, His power is to forgive them. Why does God forgive? So, we CAN serve Him…translation…He’s counting on YOU. I mean if we’re good enough for God, then who? Who can’t we stand before? You first then everyone else…ALL worthy acceptance.





Point to Ponder – Can He count on you ? [2Co 5:19 NIV] That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. This is the message of the gospel…we count the hearts NOT the sin.

STRONGER

Good morning, all! Father, we know that the battle belongs to You and You alone have the power and the strength to redeem us, to redeem us from the times. It’s time Lord, it’s time that You strengthen the body, that You strengthen the church so that we live in victory now. So, today Lord makes us all stronger, makes us stronger by Your faith that NO enemy would prevail against US and our life would flow like a river of peace as Your word declares, Amen.



Joshua 14



11 As yet I [am as] strong this day as [I was] in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength [was] then, even so [is] my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.



I might be 85 but I’m just as strong as when I was 40 and spied the land, my strength is the same as then and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.



12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.



So, give me this mountain that you promised me LORD. Remember the other scouts said these GIANTS were living there in a great, walled town. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.



13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.



So, Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land.



14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.



Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite because he followed Giod with all his heart and never waivered from a life of faith.







Bottom line – This is such an incredible message hidden in Joshua, have you heard Caleb’s story? He and Joshua were the only 2 spies of the 12 sent that returned with a positive report regarding the promise land, Caleb said let us take possession we can do it. You know what the other ten spies said? [Num 13:31 NIV] But the ten men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are. You know why Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years? They chose to believe the ten men...the world, they chose fear over faith. Hebron was the place where God made his first covenant with Abraham, He said it belonged to him and his descendants. This was a special place that was dedicated by God, it was NOT meant for the enemy. Don’t you love the heart of Caleb, he’s 85 years old, some might say well past being ready to retire, right? Not so, he says I’m too strong and NOT looking to retire on some beach. Instead, he wants to go get the land that was promised by God, will it come easy? Not likely, but he doesn’t care he’s willing to fight with the Anakims to get it…they were giants, but he doesn’t care he will NOT let the enemy steal God’s glory. Gives retirement new meaning, don’t you think? I want faith like that, to be just as strong at 85 compared to when I was youngerman, you? Then you must go take Hebron and not Sanibel island-Ha! Are you stronger today than yesterday? You ready for the battle? [Deu 1:28 KJV] Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people [is] greater and taller than we; the cities [are] great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. What makes Hebron so special? Of all the places on earth why did God promise this land to His chosen? And why is an 85yr old man willing to fight for it at a time when he should be taking it easy? God considers this a very special place; it requires His strongest followers to occupy it…the name Hebron means the “kingdom of friendship”. Makes sense because he told Abraham he was His “FRIEND”. Are you a friend of God? If you are then you belong in Hebron, you know how you get in? You must DRIVE out the Anakims from this place, it would appear they cause you discouragement and sorrow, they have built walls so high they reach heaven…hmm, guess they really want to keep people out. Remember when the bible speaks of “the enemy” it’s NEVER people…Anakims are thoughts that speak words of discouragement and regret, they might tell you God ain’t your friend, they might whisper you don’t need friends, they might remind you of your worst and say you’re not strong enough. When we entertain those thoughts, they build TALL walls based on failures and hurts, they get the better of us and we become defensive and push people away. Anakims keep us from living our best life, a life of Christ, a life that is filled with God’s promise for us and our children. Will you fight for it? If so, what’s the first thing we must do? Caleb FOLLOWED God with HALF a heart…OOPS…ALL of his heart! You gotta be ALL in if you’re going remain strong and defeat the Anakims. Maybe you’re not there yet, maybe you need a little help this morning so what then? [Eph 3:16 NIV] We pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being. PRAY and ask God for more strength, more faith so you can drive the Anakims out of your thought life and tear down those walls that alienate you from God and others…and if not for you, do it for your children and your children’s children so they become a friend of God…NO greater friend in the world!





Point to Ponder – You know what the price is to get into the promise land? [1Ki 5:4 NLT] But now the LORD my God has given me peace on every side; I have no enemies, and all is well. When we have NO enemies and live in peace on with EVERYONE you’re in, makes sense because God has NO enemies either…looks like you’re in good company…friends only!

RULES FOR LIFE

Good morning, all! Father, thank you for a new day filled with Your promises. Promise of a better life, promise of a better us, promise of better faith. Your word declares that the heavens do rule, so we pray let it be. You alone are lawgiver and judge, so we trust you with our life and know that we’re in the best hands possible, Amen.





2 Corinthians 3



3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.



Clearly, your life reflects Christ which is meant to minister to others. It’s NOT some legal document written in ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It’s NOT written in stone, but on human hearts.



4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:



We are confident of all this because we trust God through Christ.



5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God;



Not that we THINK we have earned anything on our own. Whatever we have it comes from God.



6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.



He has enabled us to help others by the new covenant. NOT some legal document, but of the Spirit: living by legalese destroys relationships, but the spirit GIVES life.





Bottom line – What are the rules to life? We all have them, some the same and some different depending on how you grew up. Brush your teeth, make your bed, do your homework, learn your memory verse, these of course are innocent and NOT exactly what Paul is talking about. He’s talking about living a legalistic life, you know let the punishment fit the crime sort of speak. Now in the church world we like to call it “reap what you sow”, but that is a legalistic mentality and certainly NOT what Jesus taught. [1Co 6:7 AMP] Why, the very fact that you have lawsuits with one another is already a defeat. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? The minute you take somebody to court you are already DEFEATED! Does that sound like God expects us to take legal action against one another? This is what Paul is saying in this text, our lives…the way we live…is a LIVING epistle to be read by the world. What rules did Jesus live His life by? [Jhn 5:19 NLT] So Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. Did you SEE that? Jesus ONLY lived based on what He SAW His Father doing…witness of a life lived. Seriously, what is more impactful what I say or what you see me do? At work this is what we call “the audio DON’T match the video”, feel me? When Paul is writing about “the letter” he’s NOT speaking about God’s law, scripture says His word is tried and perfect so that’s NOT the problem. The letter he’s speaking of here is really speaking of entitlement, and if you think your entitled to something you’re THINKING is of your own sufficiency. Remember the two brothers fighting over their Father’s inheritance, what did Jesus say? [Luk 12:15 NLT] 15 Then he said, "Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you get. He told them BEWARE…translation…be on guard for oneself (i.e. for one's safety's sake of mind) so as not to violate others. What were the brother’s violating? The word written on their heart…LOVE! Do you think someone owes you something? Are you measuring how much you get? [Rom 13:8 KJV] Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. The proper Greek translation is NO man is owed anything BUT…which erases whatever came prior to that phrase anyway…we OWE each other LOVE; that’s it…full STOP! The letter…that mentality kills, bring death to our lives spiritually but the spirit gives NOT takes. The answer to the rules for life is…GIVE. You know when you start to GIVE? When you believe you have all that you need and you’re NOT owed anything because your SUFFICIENCY is from God. Rule #1 for life according to Jesus, it’s NOT measured by how much you GET. So maybe rule #2 is we measure by how much we GIVE? Hmm…reminder…we should do as we SEE the Father do. [Luk 6:38 NIV] Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. God will always give us the answer to life, what is the measure that God will measure back to you? It’s GIVE…that’s the measure NOT let me see how much I can get! I pray when people LOOK at our life they will see CHRIST running all over our life because we give so much, they don’t know where it starts or where it ends...just give!





Point to Ponder – What does God love? [2Co 9:7 KJV] Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. No confusion here, be intentional with love and compassion it’s the only measure that matters to God…and don’t forget to smile.

DETERMINED

Good morning, all! Father, Your word declares that You would guide us through this life with Your eye. Help us to keep our eyes on You to find a look of approval, a look of confidence, a look of determination to know that we will finish Your course of life. May we forever be changed with just one look from You to know who we are and that we are loved, Amen.



1 Corinthians 2



2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.



So, I made up my mind while I was with you, I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, and the one who was crucified.



3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.



I came to you in weakness--timid and cautious of my approach.



4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:



And my words and my preaching was very simple, easy to understand, I did not try to wow or persuade you, but trusted God’s spirit would move you.



5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.



I did that so you would know the power of God is NOT based on man’s intellect but rather faith alone.





Bottom line – Paul didn’t read the book “how to win friends and influence people” before preaching the gospel, instead he trusted that God’s word and faith were all that was needed to change a life. In fact, Paul was a very educated man and studied and went to school for many years and you know what he thought of all that training? [Phl 3:8 NIV] What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may win Christ. Whatever we think we KNOW or don’t it’s all worthless compared to living as Christ. How determined are we to know Christ in one another? And if we would find Him in each other, would it change how we live? This is what Paul is trying to convey to the Corinthian church. They thought they were a cut above sought of speak, they were educated and wealthy and honestly thought they were better than others. Paul was very careful when he spoke with them to be humble and soft spoken, he knew the spirit of Christ has NO part in the pride of the world or the pride of religion. The only thing worse than pride is religious pride, it’s disguised by self-righteousness and hard to see in oneself and hard to see the Christ in others. [2Co 4:4 KJV] In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. When our mind is blind, we can’t see Christ in each other, who is the image of God. Think about it, how much pride did Jesus Christ have? I mean God said He hates pride. Remember Jesus and the father are one, there is NO darkness in Him. What do you think blinds the mind? [Oba 1:3 NIV] The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to the ground? God hates pride because He knows it will deceive us; it will blind us from living as Christ and alienate us from God. Pride is NOT determined to find Christ in mankind; it’s too busy living above everyone else and it certainly is NOT humble itself before others. The whole world is determined to win, to make money, to be successful, to be right, but what if we lose Christ in the process? What if we lose Him and we don’t even know it? Is that possible? [Rev 3:17 NKJV] Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. They don’t know that they are BLIND, when you’re deceived you don’t know you’re deceived. They say they have need of NOTHING and yet they’re NOT happy, NOT satisfied , they think they’re rich but the truth is they are poor. Scripture says we are to seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, First is First…when you wake up in the morning what is the FIRST thing you do? If the FIRST thing you do is seek God I promise you will WIN Christ and when you have Him you have everything!





Point to Ponder – You want to win? [Eph 4:23-24 NLT] Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God--truly righteous and holy. Change your ATTITUDE and when it looks like Jesus…congratulations you’ve won.

MY WAY

Good morning all! Father, there are days when we’re unsure of life, we have more questions than answers. Help us Lord to walk in Your truth, to hear Your voice, to find peace in those times of uncertainty. Strengthen us with Your faith so that we continue on Your path and hold onto Your way until You release Your promise, Amen



Proverbs 5



23 Buy the truth, and sell [it] not; [also] wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.



God’s truth ain’t free it will cost you but once you get it DON’T sell it because it will GUIDE you so you can APPLTY it and it will HELP you to live life.



24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise [child] shall have joy of him.



Our father rejoices in us because He has given us His DNA and when we give righteousness life it brings Him joy.



25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.



Both Father and your Mother…the church…should have much joy and the church once it gives birth to righteousness in others they will also rejoice.



26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.



My son when I have your heart then your eyes will see as I see and you will observe MY ways.





Bottom line – Some great nuggets are found in Proverbs, the first one regarding truth for our life. We are told to BUY it; how do we buy truth? [Isa 55:1 KJV] Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Everyone…also known as ALL are thirsty…searching for that which satisfies and fills our life. Notice we are told to BUY water, wine and milk with NO money. So, how can we receive these things that should quench our thirst without money? Well, the bible says we are to hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God, His nature and character. Ok so what is the righteousness of God? [Psa 119:172 KJV] My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments [are] righteousness. All 66 books of the Bible are considered the righteousness of God. You know how you buy it? Step one, BELIEVE it. Step two, LIVE it. There is a price for His truth, I believe scripture says DENY your way, take up YOUR cross and FOLLOW Me. Do you follow Jesus? Step one you don’t do life YOUR way, what did you think the cross was for? Decoration? You know what goes on your cross? YOUR WAY!!! You must nail your WAY to that cross and then you can FOLLOW…LIVE…the same WAY Jesus lived. You see, if we’re honest there are times in our life when we don’t want to do what God’s word tells us to do. For example, when my brother offends me, I don’t FEEL like forgiving him, but TRUTH comes at a price. It says YOUR feelings…YOUR way is NOT God’s way; His way expects us to forgive and when we forgive, we have now BOUGHT the truth. Follow? This is considered the righteousness of God. Now when God tells us He is our Father, He is telling us that we have His DNA…the same nature and character in us. You remember the simple definition of character? Doing the RIGHT thing when NOBODY is looking. Doesn’t that sound like God to you? Not only is it the right thing to do but notice scripture says it brings joy to God when we follow His righteousness. And thy MOTHER…that’s us, the church we should also rejoice and be glad that we produce this life in us and others. He said MY son give me your heart and then your eyes will observe MY ways. Unless we give God our heart, we will NOT see the world as He sees, we should have our Father’s eyes…FAITH. What this comes down to we’re either going to live life OUR way or His way? If we live life on our terms will we find righteousness,? will we find peace? will we find joy? I don’t know about you, but what father would steer his children wrong? If living His way puts a smile on His face, then it ought to put a smile on our face. [Ecc 3:11 NKJV] He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. This is one of the more profound verses in all of scripture, your Father made everyone beautiful and placed ETERNITY in our heart…looks like His way will see US to the end!





Point to Ponder – What are we waiting for? [Psa 119:32 KJV] I will run the way of thy commandments, and thou shalt enlarge my heart. Start running, you’ll get a BIGGER heart.

ENDURES

Good morning all! Father, we know that nothing can separate us from Your love so what do we have to fear? Not even death itself can keep us from You. May we walk today in confidence and truth knowing the God of all things will never leave us or forsake, Your love reaches to the heavens and Your faithfulness to the skies, Amen.



Psalm 136



23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy [endureth] for ever:



Even on our worst day God’s loving kindness will endure and get us through it.



24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.



And when the world comes against you God’s loving kindness will endure and get you through it.



25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.



And God’s provision is to ALL mankind because His loving kindness will endure and NOT let you go without.



26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.



We can all thank God the One above it ALL for His loving kindness will endure NEVER run out.





Bottom line – If you’re like me I have my laundry list of prayers, sometimes the list is so long I forget what I even asked God for, you? This is a well-known Psalm, the whole chapter is dedicated to all the wonderful things God does for us. And what’s the reason? Our goodness? Our faith? Our prayer request? NOPE!!! God’s loving kindness ALONE. The Hebrew word for loving kindness is a lot more powerful than the English translation, the deeper meaning says “one that has an EAGER desire to express their love”…WOW! God desperately wants to express His love for us, I don’t think our minds can truly comprehend His mercy and I’m not sure God wants us to fully understand it but I do believe He wants us to EXPERIENCE that love. Which is more powerful? The definition or the experience? I think that’s the problem with most of religion, we want to argue over the definition or the meaning instead of LOOKING for the experience, feel me? Now I want you to notice something in verse 23, when is God eager to love us? In our lowest of lows, on our worst day NOT our best day. And when is God eager to do this? FOREVER!!! So what does Psalm 136 teach us about TRUE love? ENDURANCE!!! Makes sense to me, you can try and define love any way you want BUT if it don’t endure…news flash, it ain’t true love. We just celebrated Easter, will you give this some thought? Of course Jesus rose from the dead, also known as conquering death, right? Why did He conquer death? To prove He was God in the flesh? Okay sure, but could there be more? Could there be greater meaning? Greater purpose? Would you consider this for a moment? What if it was more than conquering sin? What if He rose from the dead because He was so eager to love us the grave couldn’t hold Him? Jesus couldn’t stand the thought of US living without Him, and maybe in return His hope is that we believe we can’t live without His love? [Sng 8:6 NIV] Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. His heart burns for us and death itself isn’t strong enough to hold back His love us. You know why? It ENDURES forever, it endures betrayal, it endures denial, it endures every accusation, it endures the crown of thorns, it endures three nails, it endures the darkest day known to mankind, it is stronger than death…that’s our Lord, no one can compare to the power of His love. Did you notice the verse right after our worse day He says we’ve been redeemed from the enemy? You know the enemy isn’t a person, right? It’s the enemy within you, it’s the enemy that tells us we don’t deserve His love or perhaps we question His love for us because of certain circumstances in our life…that is the only ENEMY we have. Quite simply the enemy is any thought that questions God’s love for us or any thought that thinks we don’t need His love. There is NO such thin-=g as life without His love, God has given us breath just so He could love us…give thanks because you can’t out live that love.







Point to Ponder – Romeo and Juliet is considered a great love story, they both DIED for their love. [1Jo 4:16 NLT] We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. Jesus rewrites the greatest love story, we get to LIVE for love NOT die.
