NEW NAME

Good morning all! Father, we know You are moving on our hearts showing us who You are in our life. Reveal Your word, Your spirt and Your grace that we might seek You always in all we say and do. Fill us with Your power and Your light and send us, send us to brighten all that belongs to You, Amen



Revelation 3



10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.



Because you have obeyed My voice, I will keep you from the hour of your trial which everyone must face as the trying of their faith.



11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.



Look for Me, I come quickly and hold FAST to what I have given you so that NO man takes your crown.



12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name.



The one that overcomes I will make a strong pillar in the church of My God, he will remain in trust, and I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the new city Jerusalem and I will write upon him a NEW name.



13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.



If you have an ear, listen to the what the spirit of God has to say.





Bottom line – Do you have a nickname or maybe you had one growing up? That’s kind of what’s happening here, God is giving us a new name. In the Bible names have great meaning, they would represent the nature and character of the person. This is consistent with the life of Jesus; he had several different names. He was known as the bread of heaven…LIFE, the door…the only WAY to heaven…the true vine…new covenant of GRACE and so on. Did you notice when did God give us the new name? It was given to the one that OVERCOMES, what did we overcome? [1Jo 4:4 KJV] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. We have overcome the world; we don’t pursue the things of the world we pursue God. We know who we are and we know we are strangers in this world because our true nature and character is a reflection of heaven. In verse 12 three things were changed, the first one was our relationship he becomes MY God…possessive, personal and committed. Next our residence changes we are now living in the NEW Jerusalem; our life reflects a life of peace with the world we live in…we pursue peace with others NOT strife. And the last one is we get a NEW name; this speaks of us becoming His bride so we take on God’s name…His nature and character, no different than when a woman gets married, they take their husband’s name. This shows a different commitment from both God and us, we didn’t receive this when we were chasing the world, our selfish desires, no we overcame them and we were patient and obeyed the voice of God. Did you notice we don’t “go out no more”? Go where? [Hos 2:7 NIV] She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say, 'I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now. We are just like Gomer, we chase the world for our happiness but there is NO joy in that life, it says we will NOT find it, but we don’t believe that so we chase anyway. You want to be happy in this life? Be an overcomer, forget the world and chase after God that’s the commitment. God is a jealous God and He will NOT share you with another, He wants you sold out to Him. Can two live together except they agree on life’s priorities? What are life’s priorities? [Mat 6:33 NKJV] But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Somebody has to be FIRST in our life, it’s either God or the world but it can’t be both. Trials come in life to TRY us, to reveal our true nature and character. There must be a trying of our faith for it to become authentic, to become stronger, to become what we pursue…faith and only faith. This becomes our new residence; it’s a life of faith and NOT the world. I hope you can see this, the only thing that pleases God is faith, in fact, scripture declares without it we can never please Him. But did you notice that God gave us something when we overcome the world, a CROWN. He also said NO man can take it from you, makes sense if God gives you the same power and authority then He is the only one that can take it. You know you wear a crown on your head; can the world see your crown? [Psa 103:4 NIV] Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, Make sure the world knows you have a NEW name and offer nothing but love and compassion, wear it well!





Point to Ponder – What’s the best thing going on in your life? [Psa 63:3 KJV] Because thy lovingkindness [is] better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Don’t trade Him…

WAKE UP

Good morning all! Father, may we fully trust in Your love through every season we face. To know that Your goodness is perfect, to believe You know what’s best even when we can’t see it. Help us to believe, and when we drift Lord pull us close, if we fall lift us up and when we’re confused heal us, Amen.



Romans 13



10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.



Love will NOT hurt people, and this kind of love fulfills the requirements of ALL God's law.



11 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.



The time is NOW, what are you waiting for? Wake up, today is the day of your salvation Your savior lives within.



12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.



Our night season of ignorance is far gone; salvation is now in your hand. So remove your dark deeds like old clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.



13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.



Let us live this life honestly as Christ has shown, NOT making a scene, NOT being lazy and selfish, NOT arguing and being defensive.



14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].



Instead, let your presence be a representation of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your selfish desires.





Bottom line – True love will go to work, never complain and never get tired, you know why? The POWER of love! True love will give you all the strength you need to carry out any task no matter how big and no matter how long it takes, this is LOVE! This is the message to the church in Rome; they were fighting among themselves because they believed one was better than the other. [Act 18:2 KJV] 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:). The Jews were NOT welcome in Rome even though they both believed in Jesus Christ. Paul is basically telling them to WAKE UP and smell the coffee; he was well versed given he was a Roman citizen himself so why would they reject one another? Simple, the Jews thought they were better than the Romans and vice versa. This is the darkness Pual is speaking about; he tells us to cast off that kind of thinking. Can someone point me to verse that declares He is the God of better than? [Act 10:34 NLT] 34 Then Peter replied, "I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. Now why did God tell Peter He doesn’t view one better than the other? Peter was doing the opposite; he would eat with the Jews but NOT the gentiles. This is what religion does, it moves the goal post, but nobody checked with the OWNER of the field…He didn’t move the goal post…the only goal that matters to God is LOVE!!! Nothing can light up a day better than when we show love to a person and nothing can turn a day dark faster than when we reject someone. Now just like the Romans we have our lists of reasons why we reject a person, we get offended by what others say or do. Why do you think he tells you to put on the armour of light? The light you emit is your ARMOUR it protects you from whatever might offend you, our ability to love is stronger than their ability to hurt, follow? Paul had a similar message to the church of Ephesus, they believed they were elitist. What was his message? [Eph 4:2 NLT] Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Our love should make allowance for each other’s faults, shortcomings, sin, peccadillos, quirks, and so on, ALWAYS being humble and gentle. Kind of hard to reject people and still remain humble and gentle, the only reason we rejected them in the first place is we made NO allowance for them. Do you remember the complaint God had with the church of Ephesus? [Rev 2:4 NLT] 4 "But I have this complaint against you. You don't love me or each other as you did at first! Notice, the church claimed to love God but they did NOT love others, God says when you don’t love people you don’t love me…this is my complaint. So what happened to Ephesus? [Rev 2:5 NLT] 5 Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don't repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches. They have FALLEN from God’s grace and if they don’t love FIRST, He will remove their light, and they will live in darkness…ignorance. So PUT on Christ and make NO provision…NO excuse, we are of the DAY, and we know salvation gives us the strength to LOVE!!!







Point to Ponder – What day is today? [1Th 5:5 KJV] 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Leave NO room for darkness in this life for WE are children of the DAY so shine!

SO SHINE....

Good morning all! Father, Your word declares the earth is Lord’s and the fullness thereof, there is nothing that exist that You haven’t made perfect. You poured out wisdom and power and gave birth to life, You have removed all darkness with the brightness of Your coming so the world would shine bright forever, Amen.



Isaiah 58



4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as [ye do this] day, to make your voice to be heard on high.



Why fast if all you do is fight with each other over who’s right or wrong? you make demands of one another, you think the Lord will honor this fast but you will NOT be heard.



5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? [is it] to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes [under him]? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?



The fast that I have chosen is a day when a man’s heart breaks to be more like ME, to bow in humility and have a heart to repent of his ways, this is the acceptable fast to the Lord.



6 [Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?



It’s not just to deny yourself food but to stop holding people captive, quit placing burdens on them, set them free and forgive them once and for all.



7 [Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?



I’ve called you feed the hungry and gather those you cast out because you see NO value in them, when they’re naked cover them, which includes your own family.



8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.



That’s when your light turns ON and you have some pep in your step and feel good and your RIGHTEOUNESS will be right in front of you and you will bring glory to God your keeper.





Bottom line – Have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions in life? You know your life is on auto pilot sought of speak? No real purpose, no real joy, no sense of success or failure, it’s all the same to you? That’s what God is dealing with in this chapter as He addresses the church, we pray, we fast and show up for Sunday service…going through the motions with NO real change, no real conviction, no engagement. What happened? [Psa 17:10 NIV] They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance. How does a heart become calloused? [Heb 3:13 NIV] But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. The heart becomes hard by the deception of sin, the deception of what we think is right and wrong. The church prays and will even fast, however, they’re just going through the motions of religion. What causes that deception? ARROGANCE!!! This is us going through the motions of religion but in our heart, we have elevated ourselves, we treat others callously, we don’t see any value in them and lay heavy burdens on them. What’s that? That’s when we say it’s your FAULT, is there a heavier burden to bear when a friend or a loved one speaks those words? Notice the fast God has called us to we are to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, this is the nature and character of our God. He expects the fast to change our heart, change our attitude towards people, to see the value of every human heart, not anyone above the other. There is NO place for arrogance in the kingdom of God, it opposes the nature and character of God…it is public enemy number one…a proud look and a lying tongue…I’m better than so and so…that’s the lie we believe and then we lay the heavy burden on them. Scripture says Eve was deceived and gave birth to sin; how did God handle that? [Gen 3:21 KJV] Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. God was moved by ACTION; HE MADE them coats and CLOTHED their NAKEDNESS. When we fast it’s a picture of us denying ourselves, denying a nature that opposes the nature of God…KINDNESS. It’s easy to see the nakedness of others, to see what we consider to be wrong with them but notice God didn’t say anything. What did He do? He simply fixed their problem. He broke the yoke of guilt and shame; He let the oppressed go FREE…true forgiveness. If your fast doesn’t lead to forgiveness, you got the wrong fast. Did you notice the effects of the calloused heart? DARKNESS!!! You want your light to shine forth it begins with forgiveness; you want to experience true peace and joy it begins with forgiveness. Notice how fast our heart is healed when you forgive others…SPEEDILY. Our heavenly Father does expect us to take on His nature, not our will but HIS be done…go cover the NAKED, go feed the hungry. Does our life bring glory and honor to God? [Pro 19:11 AMP] Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger, And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]. You SHINE when you clothe others NOT expose them…honor & glory!





Point to Ponder – What do they see? [Mat 5:16 KJV] 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Action, let the world SEE our good works which bring glory to God.

STRONGER

Good morning, all! Father, we know that the battle belongs to You and You alone have the power and the strength to redeem us, to redeem us from the times. It’s time Lord, it’s time that You strengthen the body, that You strengthen the church so that we live in victory now. So, today Lord makes us all stronger, makes us stronger by Your faith that NO enemy would prevail against US and our life would flow like a river of peace as Your word declares, Amen.



Joshua 14



11 As yet I [am as] strong this day as [I was] in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength [was] then, even so [is] my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.



I might be 85 but I’m just as strong as when I was 40 and spied the land, my strength is the same as then and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.



12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.



So, give me this mountain that you promised me LORD. Remember the other scouts said these GIANTS were living there in a great, walled town. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.



13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.



So, Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land.



14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.



Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite because he followed Giod with all his heart and never waivered from a life of faith.







Bottom line – This is such an incredible message hidden in Joshua, have you heard Caleb’s story? He and Joshua were the only 2 spies of the 12 sent that returned with a positive report regarding the promise land, Caleb said let us take possession we can do it. You know what the other ten spies said? [Num 13:31 NIV] But the ten men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are. You know why Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years? They chose to believe the ten men...the world, they chose fear over faith. Hebron was the place where God made his first covenant with Abraham, He said it belonged to him and his descendants. This was a special place that was dedicated by God, it was NOT meant for the enemy. Don’t you love the heart of Caleb, he’s 85 years old, some might say well past being ready to retire, right? Not so, he says I’m too strong and NOT looking to retire on some beach. Instead, he wants to go get the land that was promised by God, will it come easy? Not likely, but he doesn’t care he’s willing to fight with the Anakims to get it…they were giants, but he doesn’t care he will NOT let the enemy steal God’s glory. Gives retirement new meaning, don’t you think? I want faith like that, to be just as strong at 85 compared to when I was youngerman, you? Then you must go take Hebron and not Sanibel island-Ha! Are you stronger today than yesterday? You ready for the battle? [Deu 1:28 KJV] Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people [is] greater and taller than we; the cities [are] great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. What makes Hebron so special? Of all the places on earth why did God promise this land to His chosen? And why is an 85yr old man willing to fight for it at a time when he should be taking it easy? God considers this a very special place; it requires His strongest followers to occupy it…the name Hebron means the “kingdom of friendship”. Makes sense because he told Abraham he was His “FRIEND”. Are you a friend of God? If you are then you belong in Hebron, you know how you get in? You must DRIVE out the Anakims from this place, it would appear they cause you discouragement and sorrow, they have built walls so high they reach heaven…hmm, guess they really want to keep people out. Remember when the bible speaks of “the enemy” it’s NEVER people…Anakims are thoughts that speak words of discouragement and regret, they might tell you God ain’t your friend, they might whisper you don’t need friends, they might remind you of your worst and say you’re not strong enough. When we entertain those thoughts, they build TALL walls based on failures and hurts, they get the better of us and we become defensive and push people away. Anakims keep us from living our best life, a life of Christ, a life that is filled with God’s promise for us and our children. Will you fight for it? If so, what’s the first thing we must do? Caleb FOLLOWED God with HALF a heart…OOPS…ALL of his heart! You gotta be ALL in if you’re going remain strong and defeat the Anakims. Maybe you’re not there yet, maybe you need a little help this morning so what then? [Eph 3:16 NIV] We pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being. PRAY and ask God for more strength, more faith so you can drive the Anakims out of your thought life and tear down those walls that alienate you from God and others…and if not for you, do it for your children and your children’s children so they become a friend of God…NO greater friend in the world!





Point to Ponder – You know what the price is to get into the promise land? [1Ki 5:4 NLT] But now the LORD my God has given me peace on every side; I have no enemies, and all is well. When we have NO enemies and live in peace on with EVERYONE you’re in, makes sense because God has NO enemies either…looks like you’re in good company…friends only!
