COUNTING ON YOU
Good morning, all! Father, when all else fails we know we can count on You always. Your love for us never changes, and Your thoughts of us exceed more in number than all the grains of sand this world holds. We love You Lord, strengthen us and fill us with Your truth so You can count on us to share the only message worthy of Your glory, Amen.
1 Timothy 1
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He is counting on me to remain faithful to minister the gospel.
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.
Although I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my foolishness, I persecuted his people and hurt them. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
And yet God as generous and gracious and filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.
15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
This is a faithful saying, which ALL are found worthy to accept it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to SAVE sinners"--and I am the worst of them all.
Bottom line – What if God is personally counting on you? And what if you believed it? Would it change how you SEE life? That’s Paul’s message this morning, now you can’t disconnect it from why Jesus came in the first place which I think we often lose sight of that one, why did Jesus come? To SAVE us…full stop! I love how Paul gives all the glory to God, not only does he acknowledge the power given to him, but he says God COUNTED him faithful, for what? SAVE people! Faithful doesn’t mean perfect, it means YOU don’t give up. But isn’t that true faith? Not giving up! Think about it, what if God gave up on us? He would have good reason with me, I try and I try and still make mistakes…oh well, I had my chance…so the world would say but NOT so with God. [2Ti 2:13 NLT] 13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is. The very nature of God is to remain faithful to US, there is no such thing as oh well, you blew it…He can’t DENY who He is…FAITHFUL. That’s what makes Him great and that’s what defines His love, right? True love will NEVER give up on a person; we should always leave room for God to move on a heart and believe for the best. [Heb 11:1 NIV] 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see yet. Powerful, faith is this…first, it should be CONFIDENT and second is to have HOPE…a positive outcome even though you don’t SEE it yet. Paul was counted faithful by God even though he blasphemed and hurt people, however, God was still counting on him to go change the world. Now before you question if you’re worthy of the call, here’s how Paul frames up those thoughts…All are worthy to accept the call including him which he also labels himself the absolute WORST sinner of all. You see, what is the universal truth of our sin? Salvation!!! It’s not about the depth of our sin it’s about the depth of His love. [Eph 3:18 NLT] And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. Do you have the power to UNDERSTAND…the width…the world…the length…eternity…the height…heaven…the depth…your hell. God isn’t putting you in hell, He’s going in after you…TRUE LOVE. I don’t think we’ll ever fully understand the depth of God’s love because our minds are finite and of course, His is infinite…NO limit to the power of His understanding or His love. There is a powerful verse I often quote to help my foolish thoughts grasp the power of His love, you might want to quote this one too. [Psa 130:3-4 NIV] If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Are you still standing this morning? Then give the Lord thanks because His nature is NOT to record all your wrong doings, His power is to forgive them. Why does God forgive? So, we CAN serve Him…translation…He’s counting on YOU. I mean if we’re good enough for God, then who? Who can’t we stand before? You first then everyone else…ALL worthy acceptance.
Point to Ponder – Can He count on you ? [2Co 5:19 NIV] That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. This is the message of the gospel…we count the hearts NOT the sin.
May we all shout count me in Lord, In Him Phil Faith – Family - Friends
