“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.” - Psalm 138:7

Trouble in this life is inevitable. It comes to us all. It comes In many different forms and at unexpected times. Trouble with people and our relationship with them. Trouble with economics bringing financial stress and sometimes ruin. Trouble with our health that brings us to our knees and maybe even to the grave.

But the child of God must remember, as the psalmist said, “When I walk in the midst of my trouble, God is well able to revive us. He can stretch forth his hand against the wrath of our enemies and His right hand shall save us.”

Let me say it again, as I have so often, “The God who can is the God who will.”

Expect trouble. Be watchful. And when it comes knocking, let faith open the door, and walk through in victory. Remember, “It is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was not only surprised but overwhelmed with emotion as I read all the comments attached to the many & varied items in this basket presented to me Sunday by our church family.

The painting depicts the three buildings we have owned in the past 38 years. The bottom was our first, on Montclair Blv., then to Main St. and our current building on Westside Dr. The painting was done by our Sis. Deb Alexander. She did an incredible job. Thank you Sis. Deb!

I feel so inadequate to pastor such great people. To God be all the glory and honor.

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:7 (KJV)

There is something fascinating in nature sometimes called “the cushion of the sea.” Far beneath the ocean's surface, beyond the reach of the raging winds and crashing waves, there is a depth where the violence of the storm above is scarcely felt.

On the surface, mighty winds may howl, waves may rise like mountains, and ships may struggle to survive. Yet far below, there is a remarkable stillness. The storm that disturbs the surface does not reach those quiet depths with the same fury. When we dredge the bottom and bring up the remains of animal and vegetable life or broken relics, they give evidence of not having been disturbed in the least, for hundreds and thousands of years.

What a beautiful picture of the peace of God!

Life's storms are inevitable. Trouble will come, disappointments will arise, and circumstances may shake everything around us. But the child of God has access to a peace that is deeper than the storm!
Paul did not say that God's peace would remove every storm. He said that God's peace would keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

That means we can have trouble all around us without allowing trouble to take possession of us!

The winds may blow, but His peace remains. The waves may roar, but His promises stand. The storm may rage on the surface, but deep in our souls there can be a calm that the world cannot understand.

The secret is not living above the storm, but living deep enough in God that the storm cannot rob us of His peace!

So today, don't measure your peace by the size of your storm. Measure it by the greatness of the God who holds you.

Remember: The storm may disturb your surroundings, but it doesn't have to disturb your soul!
