Join us for our upcoming Roundtable discussion on Monday, Aug 10th! This week the topic is "What Can We Do to Stop the Bleeding?"
The City of Las Cruces has
paid more than $97 million in taxpayer funds in recent years to settle excessive-use-of-
force lawsuits involving LCPD. A proposed resolution by the Doña Ana County NAACP
to establish a Citizens Review Board was denied by the previous Las Cruces City
Council. A work session with the City Council did not produce any tangible results
either. Public meetings with OIR Group, the independent auditor hired by the City, have
led to some changes but the bleeding has not stopped. During this session, we will
discuss changes that may benefit all stakeholders, including both citizens and the
LCPD. Dr. Bobbie Green is president of the Doña Ana County NAACP and has served
for the past seven years on the Law Enforcement Certification Board as the governor’s
appointee.
Roundtable is held at 6:30PM in the Sanctuary and on Zoom, a link is available on the church website.
