Have you ever opened your Bible, read a few verses, and thought, “Okay…but what am I supposed to take from this?” You’re definitely not alone.

Our Rooted in the Word sermon series at Crossroads Community Church is about learning how to approach the Bible in a way that brings us closer to God and it begins with humility.

Sometimes we read Scripture hoping it confirms what we already believe. Humility asks, “God, what do You want me to see? Is there something You want to change in me?”

You don’t need to understand everything before you begin. You only need a heart that’s willing to listen and learn.

Have you ever prayed for God’s direction while quietly hoping He would choose the direction you already wanted?

In Luke 22, Jesus was completely honest with the Father about what He was feeling. He asked if there could be another way, but He still surrendered to God’s will. Part of approaching God and His Word with humility is being honest about what we want while remaining willing to follow where He leads.

During our new Rooted in the Word sermon series at Crossroads Community Church, we’re learning that we won’t always understand everything God asks of us. Faith means trusting His heart and choosing obedience, even when His answer looks different from ours.
