Portals for June 2, 2026: Genesis 3:1-7 and Psalm 27:1-5
I will put enmity between you and the woman . . . ; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel. Genesis 3:15
"Instead of eternal light and peace, the darkness of our sin introduced shame, separation from God, suffering, and discord with one another. Yet . . . ,God offered a burning candle of hope: a Savior for all people. There would be One who would shatter this darkness and bring victory over sin and death, ensuring eternal light for all who believe.
Gracious God, Your eternal light penetrates the darkness brought about by our sin. Thank You for Your grace given in Jesus, which covers our sin and restores our light of hope. In His name. Amen."

Portals for June 1, 2026: Genesis 1:1-5 and Psalm 19:1-6
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Genesis 1:3
"God reminds us that He is the source of light and also the source of life. His gift of lght keeps the world alive, but it is also God who sustains that light. His creation of light by His Word alone points us ahead to the light of the world, the Word who became flesh: His Son, Jesus, who entered into this world to bring us true life and light through His death and resurrection.
Creator of light, You are our light and our life. Let Your Word pour on our hearts both light and life daily as we turn to You for all needs of body and soul. In Jesus' name. Amen."

Portals for May 31, 2026: John 16:12-15, 20-24 and Psalm 51:10-12
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation. Psalm 51:12
"The Father gives us salvation-joy because He loves us so much that He gave His eternal Son to die for us.
The Son gives us the joy of salvation by His life, death, and resurrection.
The Holy Spirit gives us the joy of salvation as He brings Christ to us through Word and Sacrament. Without the Spirit, we could not have such salvation-joy.
O triune God, we praise You for creating our salvation and for restoring our joy in it. Amen."

Portals for May 30, 2026: Titus 2:11-14 and Pslam 130
And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. Psalm 130:8
"Why should God forgive us and hear us when we pray? Why should we wait for God in our trials? Why should we put our hope in God's Word? Answer: The Redeemer who was predicted in the final verse of the psalm has come and has already redeemed us from iniquity by dying and rising from the dead!
Dear Redeemer, we trust that through You we can come to our Father in every need. Amen."

Portals for May 29, 2026:Matthew 21:1-11 and Psalm 118:25-27
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Psalm 118:26
"As sinners, we chant, 'Hosanna'--that is, 'save now'. And as Jesus comes to us with His cross-centered salvation, riding, so to speak, on a donkey of bread and wine, we appropiately chant, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.'
Hossanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! In Jesus' name. Amen."

Portals for May 28, 2026: Mark 12:1-11 and Psalm 118:19-24
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Psalm 118:22
"Jesus is saying that God's Son---the son of Israel's owner---would be killed and cast out of Israel (Jerusalem). The rejected son and the rejected stone are one in the same: Jesus. This prophesied rejection was clearly fulfilled in Christ's crucifixion, when for our sins He was crucified and buried outside of Jerusalem. Christ Jesus having risen from the dead, is the cornerstone of God's spiritual building, the church.
Lord Jesus, our cornerstone, we trust that in You we are now unrejected, now forgiven, now posssessing resurrection. In Your name. Amen."

Portals for May 27, 2026: Mark 4:35-41 and Psalm 107:23-30
He made the storm stand still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:29
"We have wind and waves such as disease, personal problems, mental anguish, family issues, and death. Jesus went to the cross to still the wind and waves of sin and the misery sin causes. Right now, we realize by faith that these winds and waves are under His control, and when He returns, the winds and waves of sin and all it's consequences will be stilled forever.
Lord Jesus, enable us to believe the wind and waves are under Your control and will ultimately be stilled forever. In Your name. Amen."

Portals for May 26, 2026: Hebrews 1:8-12 and Psalm 102:25-28
Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands. They will perish, but You will remain.
Psalm 102:25-26
"We need to know how Jesus brought us back to God---that 'God the mighty maker, died for His own creatures' sin' (LSB 437:3). We also need to know that He---and we in Him---remain forever. He is risen from the dead, never to die again; in our Baptism, 'we believe that we will also live with Him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again' (Romans 6:8-9). In Christ, we have immortality!
We thank You, Lord Jesus, that in You we will endure and praise You eternally. Amen."

Portals for May 25, 2026: Luke 18:35-43 and Psalm 89:1-4, 19-37
Once for all I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His offspring shall endure forever. Psalm 89:35-36
"Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, and the people cried out, 'Hosanna to the Son of David!' (Matthew 21:15). Hosanna means 'save now', and that is precisely what the Son of David was in the process of doing: saving. That Friday, He would go to the cross and, in His great mercy, pay for mankind's sins.
Now in worship when we cry out 'O Christ Thou Lamb of God, have mercy on us,' the merciful Son of David hears and extends His blood-bought mercy to save every penitent.
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen."
