What if play is not a distraction from the Christian life, but actually a doorway into it? This message invites us to reconsider something we may have quietly dismissed as trivial. Drawing from Mark 10:13-16, where Jesus welcomes children and declares that the kingdom of God belongs to those who receive it as a child would, we are challenged to examine the posture of our own hearts. Children do not earn their way into Jesus' arms. They simply come, trust, and receive. That same openness, that willingness to let go of control and be surprised, is at the heart of both play and faith. We explore the ancient virtue of eutropelia, the Christian tradition's own word for playfulness, and discover that delight, laughter, and recreation are not guilty pleasures but healthy rhythms woven into a life of grace. When worry narrows our vision until the problem fills the entire horizon, play gently expands it again, making room for God to work in the spaces we have loosened.
