What an amazing weekend at River Church! Saturday morning was Shepherd's Pantry (a ministry that River Church has run for 30 years!), with over 40 people getting blessed with free food and other necessities, as well as getting prayed with and encouraged! Then in the afternoon, Tha Myx, River Church, and Communidad Cristiano Colorado--came together to put on a Back To School Backpack Supply event. Over 600 backpacks were assembled the week before, and teams from Tha Myx and Communidad fanned out throughout the area of downtown Lakewood in the days prior to let people know what was happening. Over 400 people showed up and were treated to free backpacks for the kids, free haircuts, free dental services, free clothes and a free lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs! Not only that, but Communidad had translators available for those whose primary language was Spanish, and Tha Myx manned the baptism tank and baptized four people (all from the same family!) right there on the church lawn! Jesus was proclaimed in so many ways that day, and a special thanks to Pastor Joe Aragon of Tha Myx for having the vision and putting together a wonderful team of volunteers to make it happen! River Church is very blessed to be able to partner with Tha Myx and Communidad Cristiano of Colorado to reach out to our community and share the love of Christ in tangible ways! Next up is a trunk or treat event on Halloween where we will once again partner together to shine the light of Jesus into the darkness and minister to whole families in His Mighty Name!
