Don't forget - SUMMER NIGHTS are happening starting TONIGHT!

Instead of the prayer meeting inside the church building, families are eating together, walking together and praying together in homes, in restaurants, and parks. Not just Wednesdays but nearly every weekday!

Online Tithes & Offerings: www.Honor.church

May 25th, 2026 we celebrate Memorial Day, but Memorial Day is about far more than a long weekend.

In this powerful expositional sermon from Joshua 4, Pastor Jon Groves explains why God commanded Israel to build memorial stones after crossing the Jordan River and why remembrance is essential for both nations and believers. Memorials are not ultimately about the object—they are about the story attached to it.

This message explores:
Why God commands remembrance
The spiritual danger of forgetfulness
How memorials preserve gratitude and reverence
Why future generations must hear the stories of God’s faithfulness
The connection between national blessing and honoring God
How Christians should think biblically about Memorial Day, patriotism, sacrifice, and worship

Main Text: Joshua 4:1–7 (ESV)
At Honor Church, we believe:
“Memorials exist to magnify the mighty hand of God.”
If this message encouraged you, share it with someone and subscribe for more biblical preaching, expositional sermons, Christian worldview teaching, and practical discipleship content.

You can be busy… and still be spiritually dull.
In 2 Kings 6, the axe head didn’t fly off in rebellion.
It came off while they were working.
This Sunday we’re talking about:

how believers lose their edge
how spiritual dullness happens
and what God does when iron sinks

If you’ve felt tired, numb, distracted, dry, or spiritually ineffective lately — this message is for you.

Memorial Day began after the Civil War as “Decoration Day,” when grieving families and communities gathered to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and remembrance. It was never about mattress sales, lake days, or a staycation. It was about stopping to remember and honor.

As Christians, remembrance should matter deeply to us. Scripture repeatedly calls the people of God to remember what others sacrificed, remember God’s faithfulness, and teach the next generation why those things matter.

🚨 That’s why church matters…even this weekend. 🚨

It’s not because we worship a country. We certainly do not. But rather because gratitude, honor, remembrance, and prayer should still exist in the hearts of God’s people. When the church forgets, the country forgets.

Sadly and sinfully, many people across the nation will skip church this weekend for a three-day getaway. This not only neglects the intention of a national holiday, it grieves the heart of God.

This Sunday at Honor Church, we’ll gather to worship Jesus, honor sacrifice, pray for families who carry loss, and remember that freedom has always been costly.

As a little kid, someone once told me:
“Prayer is like picking up the phone and calling God… and the amazing thing is, He always answers.”

That changed my life.

So there were nights I would crawl into bed and simply say,
“Dear Jesus…”

And in my childlike faith, it was like He stayed on the line all night long.

Some of you are walking into toxic workplaces, painful homes, difficult conversations, and overwhelming situations tomorrow morning.

Before you walk in…
just whisper:
“Heavenly Father…”

And let Him walk in with you.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

You were never supposed to carry life without His presence.

The church marked by the presence of God isn’t the church that says,
“Lord, bless all our plans.”

It’s the church that lays down an empty calendar and prays:
“Lord… show us what You want to bless.”

Guide our steps.
Direct our decisions.
Interrupt our plans if necessary.

And the Christian who walks with God on ordinary Mondays is the one who wakes up and says:
“Father, go with me today.”

Go with me to work.
Go with me in the car.
Go with me into every conversation and every decision.

Because you can move fast without God.
You can even look successful without God.

But you will never build anything eternal without His presence.

“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)

A healthy church does not just listen to preaching. It opens the Bible and follows along.

At Honor Church, we want people to know Scripture for themselves, grow in truth, and build their lives on the Word of God. If you are searching for a Bible preaching church in Lake Mary, come worship with us this week.

“Now these Jews were more noble… they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” Acts 17:11

The greatest reward of pursuing the presence of God…
isn’t success.

It’s not more money.
It’s not a bigger platform.
It’s not even a packed church building.

The greatest reward of pursuing God’s presence…
is that He delights to give us Himself.

That’s the miracle.

Not that God gives blessings.
But that God gives His presence.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy.” — Psalm 16:11

Some people want God for what He can produce.
But the believer learns that nothing compares to simply being with Him.
