The next Coffeehouse will be on December 5th. from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
Come and enjoy an evening of high energy gospel-folk style music by the Vicar Bry Band. The band realized they had a gift to share—the gift of encountering humanity through loving people where they are in life. Couple this with a deep desire to lead people to a deeper understanding of who God is and the result is songs of hope, healing and restoration and just plain fun.

We are also expecting a visit from Noah. Yes, Noah!!

In 1973, Cindy and I committed our lives into the hands of Jesus. We were in church every Sunday morning. We heard the preaching, and drew closer to God, through Holy Communion. But when it came to fellowship with other believers, we found it not so much in the “sanctuary” but rather in the “basement”! On Friday night, we turned the basement into a coffeehouse called “The Hub.”. We shared our talents in music, drama, testimonies, and prayed for each other. Many professed Christ as their Lord and Savior.
In 1977, Cindy and I received a call to be youth ministers at a church in Maitland, Florida. We started a ministry called The Right Track Coffeehouse (the church was next to railroad tracks). We formed friendships that still bless us. The Right Track Coffeehouse ministry produced a band called “Hope” The band included Cindy and I, and others we met at the coffeehouse.
The next coffeehouse experience was at a prison ministry called The Bridge in Orlando, Florida. It was an oasis for the men working their way back into the community. The Friday coffeehouse at times drew nearly 80 people. Families were united in a Christ-centered environment.
Well, as Bert Lance once said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!” (Look it up!) We are going to open up a coffeehouse ministry again, and you are invited to join us for the grand opening of the Upper Room Coffeehouse on Nov. 7th. The Church of the Upper Room is located just 2 blocks west of 17/92 on West 4th Street in Sanford, Florida. A map is available at www.churchoftheupperroom.com. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. Cindy and I will be singing, and the very talented Craig Marlatt will minister in song. Craig was the first performer at the Right Track Coffeehouse in 1978. I am so pleased that history does repeat itself! What would be really cool: if you who were there during those years could drop in on Nov. 7th! We are looking forward to the gathering of old and new friends.

This Sunday will mark the birthday of the Church of the Upper room. It has been a honor to be the pastor for all those years! I hope many will attend the homecoming service and the cookout that will follow.
