Today while studying John Bevere’s new book The King Is Coming I wanted to share some of my takeaways because I think they are incredibly important for the time we are living in right now.
There are seasons you cannot change. You can only decide how you will move in them. The wise person doesn’t fight the season they’re in. They cooperate with it. And right now the world is in a season of offense, bitterness, and outrage. So what do we do? We need to disconnect from it and limit our interaction with it. And we do this not because we're scared but because the Lord instructs us to act with wisdom. I keep thinking about Lot’s wife. She was told not to look back but she couldn’t detach her heart from what she was leaving. And she became a pillar of salt. Frozen. Staring at the very thing she was warned to walk away from. That image hits me differently right now. We scroll. We refresh. We go back to check again. Somehow we have convinced ourselves that staying informed is the same as staying prepared. But God never told us to make sure we are not ignorant. He told us to make sure we are not deceived. He told us to keep oil in our lamps. And in Hosea when He says His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, read it in context. That is not speaking about knowledge of current events. it's knowledge of His Word.
Ephesians 2:2 calls it the "course of the world". It has a flow and that flow is contrary to God’s kingdom. It wants you out of God’s purpose. It wants you focused on myths and misdirection, seeking things that pull you out of sync with His appointed times and seasons. And it is strong. It is deceptive. It operates without restraint. The Bible tells us that self-control will be lacking in the last days and that is by design. This current is designed to pull you out of alignment with the kingdom of God before you even realize what has happened.
Titus 2:12-13 brings it home. Are you devoted to God and looking forward in HOPE? Or are you living in disillusion, anxiety, and despair? Because one of those is alignment with God’s Word and the other is a direct contradiction to it. And these behaviors don’t stay on the surface. They begin to harden the heart, and a hardened heart left unaddressed can lead to disqualification.
God has much to say about the season we are in. Not to scare us but to prepare us. Know the season. Act in alignment. Lock your eyes on what is ahead.
I’ve linked John’s book HERE: https://amzn.to/4tBQeos if you want to check it out and go deeper on this subject. It has been a huge blessing to me so far and I am only on Chapter 4. One thing I love about John Bevere is that he makes it so easy to study. He gives you a clear plan and also has videos available to go even deeper. So if you’re going to read it, grab a friend or two and do it together. It would make for an incredible small group study and I think you’ll be glad you did.
LOCK.EYES. WITH. JESUS
God Bless~
