Kids First Uganda

Kids First Uganda The women and children we work with are just as capable and can be just as independent, as women and children living elsewhere.

Kids First works in Kampala, Uganda to inspire, empower, and equip women, children, and families to reach their God-given potential in a supportive and loving community. We are a Christian organization that aims to empower and benefit women and children to build a strong community, We encourage, uplift, and create an environment where women, children, and youth can, through education, skills devel

opment, employment opportunities, and development of talents and freedom of expression, reach their individual potential. We stand by God’s promise that he has “plans to give hope and a future” - Jeremiah 19:11

Our non-profit work extends to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, age, race, or ethnic background. Kids First Uganda, being cognizant of the fact that there is a need to advance education and vocational training in Uganda, and aware that we have a calling as Christians to contribute to the spiritual, physical, economic, and social development as well as emotional support particularly to the underprivileged, we came together to form this organization to address these concerns of the communities of which we are privileged to reach. All they need is an opportunity: to create, to learn, to explore the world, to grow their talents, and to develop their own resources for success in a supportive and uplifting environment. We work alongside women and children to equip and empower them, to encourage creativity which can help an individual to overcome their circumstances, and achieve their full potential. On a larger scale, we work within communities to uplift and encourage relationships between families, and to reach out to disengaged youth. We hope that the achievements of those with whom we work will reach further, to change the stereotype of an African child. We believe this will inspire local youth to aspire to and achieve more and will open doors for an opportunity as the rest of the world starts to see Africa as a vibrant source of creativity and development.

Magembe Ronald is one of the bright beneficiaries of the KFU Sponsorship Program and a powerful example of what opportunity can unlock. 🤩 He is currently pursuing Cybersecurity at ISBAT University, where his talent and dedication continue to shine.

Recently, Ronald represented his university in the Cyberstars Competition, a high-level cybersecurity challenge involving over ten universities. Through outstanding skill and determination, he emerged as the overall winner! 🏆

His achievement earned him fully funded CompTIA Security+ training and certification, plus Wi-Fi installation and four months of unlimited internet access to support his professional growth.

Ronald’s success reflects the life-changing impact of Kids First Uganda—proving that with the right support, young people achieve more. ❤️ Thank you for supporting all we do at KFU!

At Kids First Uganda, every milestone is a story of hope, transformation, and possibility. This year, our hearts are overflowing with joy as we celebrate a remarkable achievement — our very first University scholarship through the Inspire Soccer Academy. 🏆

The proud recipient is John, a gifted midfielder whose journey from poverty to promise embodies everything KFU stands for.

Through our community-driven initiative, John found more than just a game — he found hope, mentorship, discipline, and family. Over the years, he balanced academics and soccer with remarkable determination. With the support of KFU scholarships, he completed both primary and secondary school, even when the dream of university felt impossible.

Victoria University in Kampala has awarded John a full scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration — a three-year journey that will not only transform his life but also ignite hope across ourcommunities.

When asked why he chose Social Work, John’s emotional response left us deeply moved:
“To me, Kids First Uganda has been more than soccer — it’s been a home where I’ve been nurtured, loved, disciplined, and given hope for a better life. After I graduate, I want to give back and help other young people in the slums of Kampala find their way, just like I did.”

John’s story is a powerful reminder of what sports can do when combined with mentorship and opportunity. Through the Kids First Soccer Initiative, we are not just building athletes — we are raising leaders, change-makers, and ambassadors of hope for Uganda’s youngest generation.

To our sponsors, partners, and friends — this milestone is yours too. Together, we are proving that with the right support, talent from the streets can rise to shine in classrooms, on fields, and in life.

If you would like to make more KFU dreams come true, we are in need of sponsors for some of our younger children. ❤️

A subject not often openly discussed is abuse and violence aimed at women.

In the urban slum settings where we operate, cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, and even deaths related to gender-based violence are distressingly common. Many women and girls live in constant fear, especially at night, when insecurity is at its peak.

In mid-2025, KFU was privileged to welcome Theo, a volunteer from Germany specialized in martial arts, who joined our team with a mission to empower women and girls through self-defense training.

We saw this as an opportunity to give women practical tools to protect themselves and build confidence in unsafe environments. The idea was well received across the communities where we work — a clear indication that this program is meeting a real and urgent need.

Through multiple schools, we expect to train at least 600 girls by the end of this year. Additionally, a group of mothers from our community have dedicated every Sunday evening to attend similar self-defense sessions.

We strongly believe that when women feel safe and confident, they not only protect themselves but also uplift their families and communities.

Our goal is to extend the program to more schools and community groups in the coming year.

This self-defense initiative has become more than just a training—it is a movement of courage, dignity, and transformation.

Will you partner with us? Because of our many donors, we are able to host invaluable programs like this. It is easy to give with Venmo -Uganda or PayPal . Thank you in advance! ❤️

This September has been an exciting and rewarding month for the KFU Inspire Talented Soccer Academy. Our young players had the opportunity to compete in two major tournaments: the Bombo Skills Soccer Camp and the International Youth Soccer Tournament in Kampala. Both events showcased the talent, teamwork, and determination of our players while giving them exposure to competitive football at a higher level. ⚽️

This year’s camp attracted some of the strongest academies in the region, including 20 of our boys and girls teams. We were the champions in three of the four age categories! 🥇

At the International Youth Soccer Tournament in Kampala, we also had 10 teams participate.
Inspire was drawn into a strong group but rose to the challenge, finishing Tournament Runners-up after an outstanding campaign.

🏆The holiday tournaments were a resounding success for Inspire Talented Soccer Academy. Winning three trophies at Bombo and reaching the finals in Kampala demonstrates the skill, discipline, and spirit of our players.
These victories are not just about medals and trophies—they open the door for our young athletes to access scholarships and educational opportunities in the coming academic year.
We are proud of every player and grateful to our coaches, supporters, and partners who make this journey possible.

💡 Looking Ahead
With the progress shown this term, we are more committed than ever to nurturing soccer talent and creating brighter futures for our children—both on and off the pitch. The future of Inspire Talented Soccer Academy is shining bright!

✨ Farewell Ole! ✨

We gathered as the Kids First Uganda family in Kampala to celebrate and bid farewell to our dear volunteer Ole Wesnberg, who has been with us for a full year. 💚

Ole’s volunteering journey with us was made possible through the partnership between ARTEfact (Germany) and Kids First Uganda. 🌍 Together, we created an opportunity that brought so much learning, love, and impact to our children and community.

Ole has been more than just a volunteer – he has been a friend, mentor, and brother to our children and team. From sports to farming projects, learning sessions to fun moments, his dedication and love have left a lasting impact on everyone at KFU.

We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and passion he shared with us. 🙏 Though we are sad to say goodbye, we celebrate the beautiful memories and look forward to keeping the bond alive across borders. ❤️

Thank you Ole for inspiring and uplifting us. You will always be part of the Kids First Uganda family! 💫

Ryati is a quiet, thoughtful 12 year-old boy (born December 22, 2012) who has already faced more loss than any child should. He lost both of his parents to HIV/AIDS at a very young age. The only bright light in that tragedy was the miracle that Ryati himself was born HIV-negative.
Today, he lives with his aging grandmother in deep poverty. She does her best to care for him, but her strength and resources are limited.
Despite these challenges, Ryati’s eyes sparkle with hope whenever he talks about school. Learning is his joy, his escape, and his greatest hope for a better future. He is currently in Primary 7, preparing for his national exams—a milestone he has worked hard to reach. He is confident he will pass. 😊
Without sponsorship, Ryati’s chances of progressing to secondary school are slim. His dream of becoming an engineer—of building a better world not just for himself but for others—hangs in the balance.
By sponsoring Ryati, you are not just giving him an education—you are giving him stability, dignity, and the chance to break free from the cycle of poverty. You are telling a young boy who has already known great sorrow that he is not forgotten… and that his dream still matters.
All of this for just $350 per year. Will you consider helping this boy?
